A Rotten Roster full of (Mostly Florida) Divas?

Interesting post with many things to think about. In my old age I go back to the era when we were practically invincible and think about what got us there. The coaches (Schnelly, Jimmy and Butch) were looking for players that had talent but that also had an edge. They went into some areas where others wouldn't dare to tread to find talented players who were tough as nails. Many of them were not what we would call "nice" boys. They were raw and took their pleasure form being able to legitimately knock the sh*t out of someone.

Football, to them, was more than a game. It was legalized battle.....and they took no prisoners. And for all that they also demonstrated something we haven't seen in the Canes for too many years now....They had HEART! When I was a young man playing sports we had a saying for team mates who didn't give 100+ effort and that was "their hearts pump sh*t". Too many of the current canes fall into that category. Unfortunately NO coach can instill HEART in a player. He either has it or he don't and if he don't then he needs to go.

Because it was the PAC-12

I think if Mario is going to get credit for winning the Pac 12 when his team was 4-3 (including a loss to a 1 win Oregon St team) and only allowed to play in the Pac12 championship because UW had too many sick players, then Al Golden should also get some respect put on his name for winning the acc coastal when UNC was ineligible.

Nothing you said is incorrect but how can a man who won two PAC 12 have us look this unprepared, uninspired, and downright buffoonish. This is one of the most well paid staffs in America. No excuse for what we saw. This is simply not a good team. Can Mario facilitate enough immediate adjustments that at least have us showing improvement over the course of the year ? That’s his task now along with keeping a top recruiting class together cuz we definitely have a disease, JAGitis has infected this team and the cancer must be removed.

I know. But it’s still an accomplishment our recent coaches surely never had. We know Gattis ain’t it but it’s unlikely he gets canned in season so I’ll save that. But if I’m Mario I’m forcing new wrinkles to the playbook with increased tempo and a total 180 to RZ play calling, give Ponce a chance for all I care, can’t be much worse. Zion didn’t play and boy was that lack of presence felt. Olawusen was abused and I never want to see that kid on the field again. Garcia starts, and bench Mallory, Ivey, JW0, and Flagg. Unfortunately we don’t have those same options at WR where we’re stuck with what we’ve got but make the aforementioned adjustments mentioned and it’s possible to improve throughout the course of the year and build towards a promising future.
Who would replace Ivey, JW0? Our young guys got torched, too.

So, instead I'm supposed to keep trotting out Ivey as a starter ? A young db getting beat once is somehow unforgivable vs 5 years of consistently poor performance. At least the young pups have some measure of upside.

Went 10-2 and beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, which is more than Miami had two in two tries against Wisconsin. He also went into Ohio State last year and beat the Buckeyes on their home turf, but yeah, let's keep trying to manufacture reasons to rip Cristobal four games into his Miami tenure. This fan base is hilarious.

Too early to yank ‘em. There’s alays a chance we can rebound. Maybe after a few more games, mid season. Maybe work them into coverages gradually.

The fans don’t need to manufacture anything when you lose to MTSU at home by 2 scores in a game that was never really close.

Unless the fans are manufacturing excuses…

Avante? Balom or whatever his name is. JW0 misses 85 tackles a game and takes some stupid *** penalties. Graves, Harris, Rogers could replace Ivey. I’ll take any of the young guys. Just keep Couch, Ivey, and Curtis off the field at corner.

I saw players, particularly TVD, who bought into their pre season hype. We have seen it for years. J. Harris said we need to stop watching the news. Watch Sponge Bob instead. The players get hyped and can’t focus.

Wrong. Those of us who didn’t like the Mario-bro hire from the get go are vindicated that this hire was crappy from the start.
You get to live with ****** football for the next 10 yrs. I’m done even following the program.
At least with Butch in 96 and 97 you could see they were fighting an uphill battle.
WIth this putz, we have money and support and they lose to a team who….wait for it.

Wait for it.

Wait for it.

Lost to James Madison 44-7.

You clearly don’t understand football, coaching, or talent evaluation. You might want to stop posting for a while and read a book….I recommend football for dummies.
imagine feeling vindicated after just 4 games and recommending football for dummies lmfao. Where do they find these retards?

Mario hired the wrong OC.. he needs to go
Yup Gattis and TVD sucking all the air out of the stadium with putting the team in a quick 10-0 hole

Gattis is legit another Enos who keeps trying to ram a square peg in a round hole.

I remember reading about how guys looked at practice and how sharp tvd was and also hearing that this was gonna be the best defense in forever right now those reports are not looking so believable right now.But ill add a lil positivity to all the negative things being said.the only way we lose any coaches after this year is to trespass them from the facility I doubt anyone comes calling them for head coaching gigs.

Something feels so f’d there. I’m conflicted because say all you want about A&M’s offense, we at least tackled very well and got pressure up front against an SEC team on the road. In reality, we gave up 10 points - that’s **** good and I was pleased. Yesterday…what the actual f was I watching? Guys were getting torched. Its mind boggling.
I felt the same way. If I hadn't been in Texas and saw it with my own two eyes I wouldn't have believed it...

Before I start, nothing I say should serve as an excuse or apology as to why we got absolutely whipped by a a G5 team yesterday; in fact, my title is journalism 101 - flashy, controversial title that hooks in the reader lol.

However, ignore the garbage coaching on both sides of the ball + the head man up top for a second. This is not the first time we’ve come out flat or allegedly unprepared. We saw it against Southern Miss already this season, we saw it countless times in 2021, and we’ve seen it god knows how many times the past 15-20 years. A lot of us realized that this wasn’t a quick fix; and while no one expected this garbage, the portal was supposed to be a band aid for a roster with a lot of holes.

Now with that being said, how many times have we heard about clique-y behavior on this roster in recent years? It was allegedly a huge Manny problem, and it was mentioned endlessly in a multitude of threads last night. You could see poor body languages on TV, guys bickering after the game (from people at the stadium), pointing of the fingers in interviews and postgame comments, etc. Motivation from a HC can only go so far…so is it possible these front-runners don’t give af?

I personally am starting to think this roster is rotten. It’s full of guys that think playing for the U is cool and it’s a clout thing that on paper they care for, but they don’t put in the work to be great. Now that Mario is demanding in practice and the expectations are so much higher, a large portion of them crumble up under pressure and lay down to die… ready to fire out excuses about being unprepared, or crowd size, etc. It’s soft really.

80% of these kids don’t have that dog in them as much as they talk about it or like to think they do. I do believe Mario is recruiting the right guys and it’ll slowly show, but when the insiders said there will be a major roster turnover after 2022…god****, I can count 20+ kids I hope seek playing opportunity elsewhere.

We need dogs that want to play for the U. I don’t care where they come from. Darrel Jackson was one guy in particular I saw jumping up and down firing dudes up after Garcia’s first TD drive.

People calling for Mario’s head after 4 games have 0 football IQ, it’s the same porsters that want attention. He has a LENGTHY uphill battle with both the players and the fanbase after yesterday, and will have to change his offensive philosophy to make this work…but I do believe his culture and accountability is a good thing for this program.

We need a plethora of rotten garbage to leave this program, and it’s not hard to see after last night.
Great post, @WeBallinBoyz

Aye @Rellyrell imma do something boring after me reading your post I haven't commented on yet, but I think this and your posts kind of tie into each other.

With that being said, the boring thing imma do is watch Bama's first ****** season under Satan and hope to see ANY similarities between rosters. I keep to see some parallels to our roster and coaching. Because I'm sorry, this loss is inexcusable and unexplainable.

Been saying it for years, the south Fl kids we've ended up with are bottom of the barrel with flaws - maybe they checked all the boxes for our desperate recruiters coming off 6-8 win seasons, but not the contenders who play for titles, year in and year out.

A five star Diva with attitude who doesn't take well to discipline or coaching, doesn't translate out to much more than a 3-star in reality, but you get the added bonus of him being a curse to team culture.

I’m not saying anything yesterday can or should be excused but I was at the ECU game Butch lost in 96, there was no feeling of he’s building something.

It was bad coaching, no ability to react to what the other team was doing, stubbornness and not a whole lot different from what we saw last night.
