A Rotten Roster full of (Mostly Florida) Divas?

get your dogs, and you'll still have a coach that should have pulled TVD by the second series of the game. Instead he let it get way out of hand, and let guys get demoralized in doing so.
I don’t think TVD should have been pulled immediately, but early 2Q it was apparent this wasn’t going to work. I personally would have yanked him at halftime to unleash that Garcia energy.

I guess he wanted to give his guy a shot to come out 3Q and lead a drive to get this team within 7, but it didn’t happen. I understand the rationale, even though I believed Jake should have started.

People calling for Mario’s head after 4 games have 0 football IQ, it’s the same porsters that want attention. He has a LENGTHY uphill battle with both the players and the fanbase after yesterday, and will have to change his offensive philosophy to make this work…but I do believe his culture and accountability is a good thing for this program.

We need a plethora of rotten garbage to leave this program, and it’s not hard to see after last night.
Wrong. Those of us who didn’t like the Mario-bro hire from the get go are vindicated that this hire was crappy from the start.
You get to live with ****** football for the next 10 yrs. I’m done even following the program.
At least with Butch in 96 and 97 you could see they were fighting an uphill battle.
WIth this putz, we have money and support and they lose to a team who….wait for it.

Wait for it.

Wait for it.

Lost to James Madison 44-7.

You clearly don’t understand football, coaching, or talent evaluation. You might want to stop posting for a while and read a book….I recommend football for dummies.

Dog your username is derpa derp, go sit down in the corner while the grown men discuss how to fix this ish. Maybe you actually don’t understand how football works, because Mario ain’t getting fired anytime soon.

I know. But it’s still an accomplishment our recent coaches surely never had. We know Gattis ain’t it but it’s unlikely he gets canned in season so I’ll save that. But if I’m Mario I’m forcing new wrinkles to the playbook with increased tempo and a total 180 to RZ play calling, give Ponce a chance for all I care, can’t be much worse. Zion didn’t play and boy was that lack of presence felt. Olawusen was abused and I never want to see that kid on the field again. Garcia starts, and bench Mallory, Ivey, JW0, and Flagg. Unfortunately we don’t have those same options at WR where we’re stuck with what we’ve got but make the aforementioned adjustments mentioned and it’s possible to improve throughout the course of the year and build towards a promising future.

Agreed. The standard is for Mario to get us back.

thought there was going to be a big purge after Spring. Thought there was going to be a big purge after Fall. These dudes still here logging minutes. Gil has been our most productive db and never sees the field. Ivey been our worst db and cannot get off the field. Mario want to impress me bench these mf'ers who not producing until then he's no better than Manny with accountability. .

This is really the last chance to see it imo. We can sign a very large recruiting class (although Mario just made life extremely difficult with this loss Saturday) and use the portal like Sparty did for immediate issues. We need multiple WRs, DBs, DTs, LBs, and maybe another edge rusher and RB.

If Mario is about accountability and is ready to walk that walk, I expect 15+ players to portal out from this roster. I won’t name names right now, but 15 is the floor.

Total faith in his recruiting and keeping this class together. But 0 faith in his ability to make the proper adjustments to the on field product until we see it. We’re decimated at injury to rob now if Parrish is out. Now is the time to experiment with a heavier passing attack with Garcia at qb.

I lean toward this. I was there, the 10-0 start because of those INTs sucked, but it was nothing a team couldn't have bounced back from. Should have put Garcia in for an immediate spark, or really to just force TVD to get his head in the game. Can always put TVD back in later if Garcia isn't getting it done.

I feel like ours is flipped lol, 80% is the latter group you mentioned.

It’s a true statement, but who the heck fixes culture and accountability overnight? We see it in some guys, and it’s really mostly the transfers or out of state guys. TVD definitely isn’t one of them lol. At some point, a coach can only do so much and the desire has to come from within to be great. Ask even the biggest haters, or a guy like @SWFLHurricane or @Brooklyndee - while coaching and culture is huge, players have to have the want and desire to bring this program back as bad as the fans want it.

Coaching has done no favors (especially yesterday) but to me, it’s apparent this roster has plenty of bad eggs.
As said, remove the cancer from the team. If you don’t it will keep festering. The CEO has to see it and has to make aggressive changes now. He can sell a culture change this year, even cutting ties with players, but a couple of years in and he is done. This is the perfect time with this loss, we saw the problem and solved it, there will be some growing pains as the result of losing some players, but it is best for the program moving forward.

The ESPN article regarding TVD about 2 weeks ago prior to the TAMU game raised questions.
He doesn't really speak the team and he pretty much only talks to X and Mallory and only hangs out with them.
There some obvious things that speak about that, first thing is, the dude doesn't fit in with the SFL culture, hes a white guy from the NE that is known to be snobby and all that and then he only hangs out with guys that are umm his style....
Beyond the fact that this game solidified the fact that he's a one read hitter (i.e., lots of RPO Gattis installed and he whipped them and they were completed) and when he has to read and actually be a QB he throws like Matt Leinhart, he just happen to have 1st round receivers too who can make up for it.
He wasnt a top 10 rated passer in his class for a reaosn, and now they're showing up.
I believe it was here I read it, but 80% of his passes last year were to his right side... 80 PERCENT!!!
Lashlee figured it out and made him look wayyyyy better then he is with a lot of misdirection and completely re-designing his offense to tailor TVD needs as a ****** QB. Just look at the stats, first two games juuunk then Lashlee did a lot of big time plays that were basically him forcing the hand and designing plays that would have a guy wide open and would work, (i.e., see wheel route from RBs in the backfield with trips to the opposite side, the TE ran that same route) take out those big plays and his Yard per Attempts yeesh.
This doesn't discount the defense is trash haha
Man, Miami is the weirdest team to follow, I think Mario has it right, as in he knows what he's doing and knows the problems , just this a fugging train wreck waiting to happen every game.

Every team or organization consists of three groups: The top 10 percent: disciplined, driven, self-motivated, want to be great, and work relentlessly. The 80 percent: the majority—those who do a good job and are relatively reliable. The bottom 10 percent: disinterested and defiant.

I dont know that we have even 1% that are driven
Its the 80%

I remember reading that article and being excited about the juice coming into the program…and then like, “wtf?” That’s the most basic thing ever - how are you not boys with the guys that you have to trust to haul in your throws???

Before I start, nothing I say should serve as an excuse or apology as to why we got absolutely whipped by a a G5 team yesterday; in fact, my title is journalism 101 - flashy, controversial title that hooks in the reader lol.

However, ignore the garbage coaching on both sides of the ball + the head man up top for a second. This is not the first time we’ve come out flat or allegedly unprepared. We saw it against Southern Miss already this season, we saw it countless times in 2021, and we’ve seen it god knows how many times the past 15-20 years. A lot of us realized that this wasn’t a quick fix; and while no one expected this garbage, the portal was supposed to be a band aid for a roster with a lot of holes.

Now with that being said, how many times have we heard about clique-y behavior on this roster in recent years? It was allegedly a huge Manny problem, and it was mentioned endlessly in a multitude of threads last night. You could see poor body languages on TV, guys bickering after the game (from people at the stadium), pointing of the fingers in interviews and postgame comments, etc. Motivation from a HC can only go so far…so is it possible these front-runners don’t give af?

I personally am starting to think this roster is rotten. It’s full of guys that think playing for the U is cool and it’s a clout thing that on paper they care for, but they don’t put in the work to be great. Now that Mario is demanding in practice and the expectations are so much higher, a large portion of them crumble up under pressure and lay down to die… ready to fire out excuses about being unprepared, or crowd size, etc. It’s soft really.

80% of these kids don’t have that dog in them as much as they talk about it or like to think they do. I do believe Mario is recruiting the right guys and it’ll slowly show, but when the insiders said there will be a major roster turnover after 2022…god****, I can count 20+ kids I hope seek playing opportunity elsewhere.

We need dogs that want to play for the U. I don’t care where they come from. Darrel Jackson was one guy in particular I saw jumping up and down firing dudes up after Garcia’s first TD drive.

People calling for Mario’s head after 4 games have 0 football IQ, it’s the same porsters that want attention. 100% right, too many soft minds on this team. Quitters need to be shown the door

Reposting from another thread.

I also have not wanted a group of players to finally leave than this current crop of losers. Portal, graduate, go undrafted, fvck off. Entitled, overpaid divas. I mean, what did we expect from losers with years of losing habits and then suddenly throwing money at them? I guess we, as the worst fans in the world, expected too much. That quit on display was pathetic.

was he the wrong OC when Garica was in the game? Garica was slinging it and even though he was 10-19, he had a few drops and no run game.
Yeah, the OP clearly didn't understand that the defense knew we were desperate and just trying to sling it and it was all gonna be 5 step drops.
Way easier to call a defense, mind you still a bad G5 team.. haha

Fans and players and maybe even coaches need to stop worrying about pie in the sky goals of “bringing the program back”. Just do the little things well, maximize the teams potential and win games you should. The big things will take care of themselves if you do the little things right
