A Rod

Amazing hitter

could care less about the PED use, all of baseball used it

Saved baseball

People forget that baseball was on its way to becoming the "NHL" as we see it now around the time that the Marlins won the WS in 97'. (Meaning games being broadcasted on stations no one has heard of like "Versus" or random "NBC" affiliates because the sport was dying slowly) In 1998, when Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire went shot for shot chasing the HR record created more buzz for the sport then anything. (coupled with the Yankees dynasty) Add that to the year that Barry hit 70 HRs and the sport was back. They knew those mofos were taking something.

And now they want to pretend like that era never happened even though the owners and the commish all got rich off of it. Lol.

And now the sport is back to where it was 20 years ago. **** near dying slowly. Esp now that the "marquee" names are starting to retire or get old. (Jeter/Arod/Pujols, etc)

As a baseball player, he was destined to be great from early on. I saw him twice in high school and he jumped off the field at you making plays and hitting the ball like he was already a pro. I don't know when he first started taking PED's, don't care, but he didn't ever need them IMO. He must've felt his career taking a downturn and wasnt ready for it. Now that I've got that out of the way....

I think he or anyone else taking something to enhance their gameplay is a douchebag of the highest order. Saying everyone else is doing it, while some certainly are, that's just scapegoating the behavior.

For better or worse, athletes are role models to a lot of kids to adults. Cheating yourself, the game, fans paying for your ludicrous salaries, advertisers attaching themselves to you, letting your teammates down, it's a **** joke.

Do I believe he deserves a shot at redemption, I suppose, but I also wouldn't care if sports adopted a one and done rule with this kind of stuff and he never saw the field again. You want integrity in your sport, that's exactly what they should do. Records have already gone out the window due to doping and extended seasons. To me, that lessens the game, brand, and unfortunately the player. Those who've cheated themselves like this, I'd love for one to be completely candid on how they actually feel about it.

I'm not a role model... Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids.

I'm ashamed. The guy is a cheater and a liar and yet the school allows him to represent them. It's embarrassing.

It's not scapegoating. Pretty much everyone else was doing them or something else.

I don't know if he was on national tv but he was on the NY news as spring camp opened and he was wearing a UM pullover.
I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed. How do Cane fans feel about A Rod?
We'll see if he can actually play baseball.

He is still a Cane so is Warren Sapp they did something stupid...they are not the only ones...as a matter of fact let anyone who has not done something wrong in their life be the first to lash out

UKnowWhat,
Were you a Hurricane Fan prior to your son being recruited by them? It seems as if you are very familiar with Miami's history. Just wondering if you were a long time fan, or you have done your research through Shaq's recruitment. Thanks.

Everybody does it so it's ok? What great logic! The school is telling their students that it's ok to lie and cheat to get ahead by putting this bozo's name on the ball park and allowing him to have a seat on the BOT because he paid a whole bunch of money. Money over morals is Miami's motto now apparently.

The pencil necked geeks that actually run baseball, care too much about preserving their sacred records. Thats the only reason they banned PED's. That and public pressure, because for years theirs were the only major sport that didn't test for them. Dang near everyone was using them at that time.

Greenies and baseball go together like peanut butter and jelly. Willie Mays better be glad he played when he did.

Seriously. Baseball should just allow PEDs. I wanna watch a bunch of freak beasts bombing 100+ home runs a season, not some natty lights with perfect suicide squeeze technique.

This. I have a waning interest in baseball nowadays. It's as popular as the MLS today (I actually enjoy watching soccer more than baseball).

Good night sweet prince.

Here's the photo from yesterday. I'm personally ambivalent toward ARod but it's not hard to understand why some people don't like him even beyond the PED stuff. He came off for years as being too polished, too consumed about his image and basically phony. Those things only get exacerbated by doing interviews with photos attached of you looking in the mirror and then to an even greater extent when you're basically deemed a liar and a fraud (even if it's over something all your peers were doing). That said, he still has contributed more toward UM than a ton of guys that actually were Canes and became pros so I have no interest in hating on him.

The ban on PEDs is ridiculous. Give me one rational reason why athletes shouldn't be allowed to take PEDS. ARod is a great baseball player and the victim or a retarded system.

Simple reason, nobody should be forced to put anything into their body to remain competitive or have the playing field even. Add in the records that would then be destroyed, do you have a separate record book?

No offense, but sport is about natural ability, heart, desire, and the work you put in. What would be next, robotic parts one day?

I can't believe someone actually thinks the way you apparently do. Then again, I'm never that surprised with what's said on these boards.

Final thing, if this wasn't about an honorary Cane, I bet he'd be getting blasted to bits. Change that jumpsuit to FSU or UF, he's on blast.
