A note about Miami three-stars

Gogeta, is his dad the arena league guy? No relation to UM Eddie Brown from the early 80's right? Parrish was a QB right and UM finally came to the party to grab him at the end of the cycle.

Most of the NFL draftees are 3 star kids. The same ratio would be true for every state in the US. Evaluation matters, even in Dade only a small percentage of 3 star players make it to the NFL.

His dad was the guy that killed the ARENA LEAGUE.

He looks just like his dad.....dad lived out of state playing arena ball..and didnt get along with Tonio's mom i guess and kind of lost touch. They are cool now though....

Roscoe was a qb as well....but Roscoe did more than any other qb did in dade county...he was just ripping teams up.....to the point he had that Miami High team in the playoffs...with basically him and no one else.

Such an awesome video.

Current NFL players by college. Hopefully it formatted correctly. I'm guessing these are all Richt recruits since he was at UGA for 15 years. I don't know which are the three stars or not.

No disrespect, but I've heard you guys talk about "under the radar" Miami kids for years.

Knowles, Brady, Gray, Waters, D. Jackson, etc were all supposed to be underrated beasts according to some of yall - yet none of them have shown a **** thing.

Meanwhile, our best players have been 4/5 stars like Kaaya, Duke, Artie Burns, etc

If South Florida 3 stars were so great, FIU would win the Sun Belt just once. FAU would beat Memphis and be the most talented team in the AAC. Or USF.

Man....yall got a little homerism going, I'm just saying. South Florida is great for recruiting, but some of you blow it way out of proportion

we've been hitting on the wrong 3*. Like I said in my earlier post, John Miller, traveon Henry, Fabian Moreau, steve ishamel, skai moore, rashad fenton, al harris jr., etc.

A good amount of our recent NFL players were 3*. Clive Walford, Phillip Dorsett, Allen Hurns and Jonathan Feliciano were all 3*. The bust rate for 3* will always be higher than the hit rate. However, soflo has a higher 3* success rate than everywhere else.

This is no way means I'm not saying 3* from soflo > 5* from New York

2 of those 4 went undrafted
Phil was a 4* on rivals
Clive played basketball for three years

That video is fantastic. Thanks bud. What tune is playing in the video? Also tremendous but you have to hook a TWD up with who is singing.

Every assertion you made is wrong or misleading to the premise of the argument.

1. Phillip Dorsett - Yahoo! Sports - Dorsett was a 3* on Rivals

2. Feliciano was drafted in the 4th. Hurns was the only undrafted guy out of the 4. The only conclusion drawn from Hurns being undrafted was gross negligence on the part of NFL teams. Hurns going undrafted does not in way equate to him being a bust. He's shown his worth 1000x over within two years.

3. What does playing basketball have to do with benig a 3* football recruit? Clive was a 3* football recruit. Fact. Additionally, Thomas holly and Frank icheancho started playing football their junior or senior year and picked up a 4* rating. Moreover, Djax picked up a 4* rating from 247 with only one year of high school football.

Stars matter. The team with the higher ranked players will generally have a talent advantage. But stars don't tell the whole story. Especially when it comes to players from Miami.

As of today, there are 22 players from the city of Miami in the NFL that were ranked three stars or below in high school. That means that, even without including four and five-star players, Miami has more players in the NFL than any other city in the world.

What about quality? According to the NFL's player rankings, four of the Top 60 players in the NFL are three-stars or below from Miami (Antonio Brown, TY Hilton, Elvis Dumervil and Lavonte David). That's more than Alabama, USC, LSU, Florida, FSU or any other school in the country.

And you know what's the craziest thing about these stats? We're not even including Broward and Palm Beach. It's just different down here.

These stats validate what I always say. The Miami job is and always will be a great place to come in and win big quickly. Don't wine to me about facilities and fan bases. The way the ACC coastal is set up, a good Miami coach should always be one game (ACC Championship) from being in the final 4.

Richt said as much this week. We have grass, we have equipment, we can play football. Basically just said stop *****ing baout what we don't have and just go out and play football.

Or we could do both. I'm hoping Richt can get Miami to keep spending now that he's here. Personally, I think an indoor practice facility is silly, but kids like them so it would be helpful to have one.

We shouldn't use the amount of talent in Miami as an excuse to fall farther behind with regards to facilities. I expect Richt to win with what we have, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be getting more.

We need an indoor practice facility so we won't miss so many practices due to lightning. Last year, we missed 16 practices due to lightning. It hurts execution. It's not like the old days when they'd practice until a nearby strike. Now, they have to stop practice when lightning strikes within 10 miles.

We know this but do we have the guy that will spot them......this is why i was with butch. Dont mean to keep bringing it up but this was bis specialty, hope mr is like that but history/resume says no.

How? Richt has put the second most talent into the league behind Miami since 2002 a total of 79 players. How is that not relevant?

Didnt know that wow impressive.....my thing is we need those under the radar guys from sfla and we need to land them n find them like butch would do.

Did you see Richt's press comment about bringing in all our local talent for camps? He was practically gleeful thinking about how much talent we have. I think if he can identify talent in Georgia, he can find it here.

My issue is can Mark Richt identify and develop the hidden Gems in south florida.

At UGA he never developed any under the radar type kids, since he had the benefit of the $EC bagman UGA pulled in mostly 4 & 5* kids.

This is why I am hoping he assembles a staff that understands South Florida football and are also excellent techinical coaches.

Go Canes

This post couldn't be worse.

Tony Taylor, Tim Jennings, Ferny Velasco, Danny Ware, Dannell Ellerbe, Clint Boling, Baccari Rambo, Brandon Boykin, Chris Conley, Ramik Wilson, Quayvon Hicks, etc.

He's even got a ton of less heralded players that progressed as collegiate players, but weren't necessarily pros, like Mike Moore. Also, a ton of guys were *** types on scout, but were **** on rivals and received a late star bump after committing to Georgia. Georgia had/has a pretty big subscriber base on rivals. Justin Houston is a prime example.

Has the star system gotten a little more accurate in regards to South Florida players the last few years with the proliferation of money being sunk into recruiting and people who basically see recruiting as its own sport? Most of the guys you mentioned got their star rating 6 or 7 years ago or longer.

A lot of these players are getting better offers and as a result, are getting elevated star rankings.

You're still getting your fair share of underrated South Florida kids, but they are doing at lesser programs. Which is why, as DMoney mentioned, they are doing it at Louisville and Marshall. Also, in the MAC - look at the roster of a team like Bowling Green - where they are littered with lightly recruited South Florida kids that were pretty great in high school. CUSA, MAC, and FunBelt squads are not getting getting those inflated star ratings.

Just imagine if FIU ever got their collective heads out of their *** and hired a real up and coming coach what they could do with the table scraps in South Florida. If they could get them enrolled, they'd be pretty **** successful in CUSA.
