A Lot of Bad and a Little Good

Went away from what worked. Zone beater was Toney. 2 high man was run with brown or fletcher.

Oh wait, they didn’t play much.

Jacobs had to ask Mensah the play twice.

Moore shoulder hurt
Mensah hurt
Fletcher hurt
Toney hurt
Brown out
Pringle hurt
Wheatley hurt
Lyle sped his way to the bench
OJ out
Antonie out
Lucas out
Moten dislocated shoulder came back in.
Am I missing any?

@LuCane were all those injuries worth you attending and breaking your negative streak?
I’m hopefully on the first flight out of this f’in place. As nice as the folks may or may not be, they’re not designed for this amount of folks to park and manage. My crew is staying to play golf. I’m out.

That was even more stressful than I anticipated. First of all, the field was slick and you could tell players were sort of struggling to gain their footing when they planted. When we got up 31-7, I simply said ‘please, Lord Mario or Sir Dawson, throw a few more early down vertical routes so we can ensure WF dies and everyone can get out of here.’ But, nah, let’s go ahead and make it a pure dogfight we had even play a nicked Toney on some of those screens where it looks like he’s trying to dodge semi trucks on a highway.

Here in the hotel room and still have a headache.

It was as if the only guy allowed to run more than 5 yards down field for a pass was Lofton.

Which makes sense since he’s usually the guy you’d want to match up for a 1 on 1 win downfield. Right, right?

They did put Jacobs in for a deep threat but it was clear to the wake guys and Jacobs didn’t know what route to run.

We faced some adversity, and we won. I think we’ll be better for it. Sometimes a game like this humbles you a bit and you lock in. I’m not gonna pretend like I’m not concerned at all about anything…I am. But some adversity and still winning by 13 can be a positive.

It’s a long year. We are winning this ******* league. Just keep getting better. And no more weekday games, ever.
Have to think that having our top 2 backs out and Mali clearly being ding up had something to do with it as well. Defense as bad as the tackling was made plays when it mattered and lofton looked better just hope they can cleans those things up and get healthy. Without Fletcher or brown to keep them honest they shut the offense down.

I don’t quite think I’ve ever seen anything like it. Not dramatic. We legitimately shut down the offense. Almost intentionally? If someone comes on here tomorrow with speculation that his cousin is a barber and heard that Mensah has bruised ribs and couldn’t throw, at least I’d understand.

Although then I’d be ****ed because why play him in that scenario up 3 scores? Take him out. Let someone else execute a full offense.

I don’t get it. Just glad to have the team get out of here and now hope to safely follow them out myself.

Never seen anything like it ..set conference and school records in the first half only to not be able to complete a simple forward pass in the second half...I'm lost as to truly why.
And that Wake team was bad...like very bad...and even recognizing that...we got LUCKY as **** they dropped or messed up **** when they were in a position to shock the world.
My eyes tell me something was up...dunno if it was injuries or fear or whatever..but the eyes never lie.

My eyes said we aren’t a CFP ready team after Stanford. The injuries to KEY starters and backups can make any good team look average. We just have to hope the LONG list of banged up kids are full go in a few weeks and the injuried are back before ND or acccg

I knew we’d take a step back, but the interior OL is MUCH worse than I expected.

Really have to figure this out to protect Mensah and give our run game a prayer.

Oh no doubt, the injuries to the stars affected them. But you had multiple chances to just get a first down and put the game away, and you relied on power runs for a yard and throws behind the LOS. Thats losing football.
Will we go 6&6 this year? haha..

Think some of yall are overreacting. And like to nitpick every single play.

Besides injuries, the 2 biggest concerns are tackling in the secondary and the guard play. Both can improve with simple adjustments and coaching.
Yup sir hometeam. And the fact that Wake QB is very good at what he does…Mensah may have won the POG but that young cat has the goods.

Sorry to be the one to remind canes fans but Outside of Cam Ward year when was this offense dynamic? He was brought in to save TVD and it didn’t happen.. this offense have been vanilla since Emory beat Clemson and jacurri brown wasn’t allowed to throw a pass ! Dawson has always been non aggressive
This is such an overreaction his playcalling in the first half was elite. Something changed in the second half for him to go away from everything.

The OL (interior specifically), Injuries, and Mario’s run scheme stubbornness are a problem

The conservative play calling when things get tight too is all Mario and Dawson. I hate when we do that ****. It costs us games or almost does way too much

I could say something about Adidas and their horrible footwear again, but wonder oh wonder, the issue that's been plaguing us for several years resurfaced again.
