I can confirm there has been a shift in our strategy to what Charles describes below. There are systems in place to monitor senior risers across the country and act quickly. This process began with the Class of 2025 after too many misses in the previous years:

Bryce Firzgerald
Girard Pringle
Josh Moore
Donte Simpson
Daylyn Upshaw
Herbert Scroggins
Luka Gilbert

dudes that have produced and made impact plays, among the examples of the strategy change.

Note: Did not include Toney because he was generational in HS.

But the other guys above although good prospects were not considered the "whale cant miss types" and one of them is now RB1 while another is on his way to freshman AA.

Give me more dudes that had great senior years please.

Mario has always been an elite recruiter. Showing evolution doesn't surprise me

Toney was generational while in the ball sac still

Mac Browns downfall at UT was locking up his classes early based on Jr production and coasting the rest of the cycle.
Some of the more jealous times I had as a young recruit follower was that Texas junior day where they would receive like 15+ elite commits in one weekend and fill the majority of their class right away

I remember those days well as well. My how time flies, I’m 44 now, was in my early 20s when Mack and Bobby were cleaning up in recruiting.

Got to do it all. Find the best young talent and offer based upon early evals and development projections. Monitor kids with the right traits who haven’t popped yet with un-commitable offers or lower NIL. If the former peak and flatline, get outrecruited or sit down for the hard conversation. If the latter bust out, up the attention and NIL and make them flip candidates.

Meanwhile, always maintain contact with guys on your board who have committed elsewhere and you still want. Because in today’s college football, a James Franklin can be a semifinalist one season and fired the next.

Finally, track the best performers in college and keep tabs with their NIL agents and circle so you can act when they hit the portal looking to trade up.

Kitchen sink recruiting.
