85

Much respect to Mallory. I was sick when he got hurt cuz he was playing with his hair on fire yesterday. He gets flack when he doesn't perform but yesterday outside of Colbie Young he was our best offensive player.

Played great against North Carolina, as well.

Our fans love to dog on players and want to burn it all down. They've been running this kid off for weeks after a slow start this year, but sticking with him as paid off—11 receptions for 177 yards the past two outings.

appears to be a log jam of talent at his spot with Mallory, Arroyo, and Skinner now. He isnt the blocker of Mammarelli and we havent ran the hback much which would be his spot imo. Not enough to go around...we havent even thrown to the backs enough imo.

Fair enough. Also don’t sell your grand aunt (RIP) short, I think she could probably add some culture and fight to this squad.

Yea Mammarelli was actually out there running routes when Mallory went down **** he was open in 2 of them. Brantley is the guy you throw those flat routes too imo..

The rb for WVU currently is just like how Brantley played in high school an i coached him in youthball CJ Donaldson They are loads to bring down
Agreed. I believe it was the first drive that ended in the FG. TVD seemed to really lock on Young and took a shot to him in the EZ, when Mammarelli was wide open on a drag that would’ve been TD.

Let’s pump the brakes here. He’s a decent TE if he’s not required to block….but that’s about it. He should be better than what he is by now…coaching aside he is still the same player this year as he was in previous years.
I Guess If You Say So GIF

Skinner is fine in small sample sizes but too much was on him yesterday when Mallory went out.
Let’s be honest, will has dropped many a pass like that one before. He got hit before he secured it.. anyone would have dropped that pass. But yeah he needs to gain weight

Regurgitating cheap shots dropped by random CIS porsters aren’t valid “knocks”.

LOL, says the guy that was knocking a COMPLETE TE in Jordan because He was out a few games in His career, but is now throwing a hissy fit for Mallory when He has more durability issues than Jordan.

Our coaches couldn’t figure that out in the offseason and then in camp.
Mammerali should be the blocking TE in most situations. Instead we let Mallory get blown the **** up trying to block when he should be used as an oversized WR. They are misusing many players, especially on offense. Rooster is another example.

played great except a massive drop in a game deciding moment

Mallory should not be used as an in-line blocker, cleary, but has he ever gotten through a season healthy? I think he missed this past Spring rehabbing from post-season surgery.

People love to dog 85 but when he went out yesterday the offense died. He was in the game 2 1/2 drives and we scored ten points and was at midfield driving on the play he was hurt. With multiple big catches. After he left we scored ten points the remainder of the game.

Since he’s been used more in the slot versus in-line the last two weeks we‘ve seen what he can be. As me and @Lance Roffers have been saying “ use him as a big receiver flexed out”. He puts pressure on the seams and safeties. He’s one of the few guys on this roster that can do that or make contested catches. Once again playing to guys strengths tends to work.

Hopefully we get him back for Duke. I like seeing him and 88 on the field together.
I only dog because he whiffs on blocking assignments and have critical drops in big games, but like you said it’s best to use him as flex out or in the slots to maximize his talents. Very unfortunate to see what happened with him yesterday, but I am sure he will be back for next week game.

Agreed. Brantley can be very effective as an H Back for us. He should start seeing some targets. He catches the ball well & looked great in the Spring Game. There should be more opps for him now with Arroyo out for the year & Mallory a little banged up.

Yeah he played well, but we also had our #2 TE out before the game and multiple other offensive starters. He deserved the dogging he got. He was playing like a bich. Good on him for responding.
