That was his weak spot last year - he got bullied by the VT DE. Thankfully, ND doens't have a speed demon at DE. Their DL is a bit underwhelming, imo.

Was the scrimmage 1's against 2's? Or 1's against 1's? What side was Bain playing on? Just trying to understand how he and Bell were both standouts if they were lined up against each other.

Why do we think that?

We lost Rivers and Carpenter from last year's line and only replaced with Brockermeyer. Rivers was one of the most underappreciated players here in recent history.

Is the Center position considered such an upgrade that we can backfill for Rivers and be better?

Honest question because is seems like everyone is just assuming development of players already on the roster will actually make us better.

Markel Bell .

If what he has showed in practices and at the scrimmage translates to actual game day you are looking at a potential first round tackle.

Again not saying he is or will be , after all it's just ONE scrimmage, but he looked very good and he has been practicing like an ELITE tackle.

Him and Francis as bookends have the potential to be lethal. McCoy is also coming along quite well and Okunlol is FINALLY healthy and starting to come i to his own. Samson will play a lot this year and next year he will start if not sooner.

Yeah he struggled with that last year but looks way leaner in photos this fall

He must be hurt or not doing anything at all. He hasn't been mentioned in any practice report by any of the reporters since practices started. Not one word that I have seen.

1v1s I'm told and 2s vs 2s intially

they did mix and match later in the scrimmage

Why? As long as the portal rules are what they are, I don't see why we can't keep getting top QBs indefinitely for a 1 or 2 year stop. And if Beck has the type of season we're anticipating, there will be plenty of options again next season. In fact another 1 year stopgap while Nickel and Coleman develop is a perfect scenario.

Line of Scrimmage play is certainly vital. But last year, our Secondary dictated our ceiling.
