8-0 but not championship level defense

We scored every time we had the ball but once. And only had 38 points. We should have 50 to 60.

This defense limits the ability of our offense to be championship because it isn’t stopping teams while also allowing them to bleed the clock with these death march possessions. Which limits how much of an impact Mensah and Toney can have on the game.

We need to adopt a boom-bust defensive approach. If you score on us, fine. But you do it in 2 minutes rather than 8 minutes.

we all know the o-line (better tonight) and d-line aren't championship level but considering how average /flawed every team is out there, we can beat anyone. learn a lot more next week

Fully agree with this and always believe in that sentiment. I'd rather they play cover 0 and send 6 guys every down than get carved up slowly.

We can't cover either. The times we do win at the LOS the QB has a wide open outlet to get the ball to.
Sure, but the biggest difference between last year and this year is the lack of a pass rush imo. Edwards was comfortable back there after the first drive. If we don’t blitz, we don’t get to the QB. And then there’s the fact that we’re getting out-coached on a regular basis. But we’re undefeated, so YOLO

Hard to have a pass rush when we allow QBs to have whatever they want underneath

yep.

McElroy kept commenting on fast the UNC QB was able to get rid of the ball all night long.

And people want the pass rush to still get there.

The pass rush cannot get to the QB if the QB is able to identify where the ball is going pre-snap in the soft zone coverage.

Of all the contenders, we have the worst defense. Yes, tonight's defense looked to be worse than the 2024. Crazy how Hetherman was considered a savant at one time. He doesn't know how to adapt or make adjustments and he was bent over repeatedly tonight. His players can't play in space or tackle. He can't defend the screen...like he is incapable of doing it.

Counter point. 8-0 but with a Championship level offense.

But for real not sure what could be done about the defense at this point. 1st read is open every time. Time for coaches to make their money. Tape is out but that gives a chance to make adjustments. Right now we haven't seen that they can be trusted.

Thanks god for 10 and 1 on offense

Offense wins games.

Defense wins _____________.

I think you are in the moment here and I’m surprised by this take. You don’t think 2 really good corners make a difference in pass defense?
You might be surprised by what a shutdown corner can accomplish. Imagine a lockdown corner taking away half of the field while giving the pass rush significantly more time.
That’s what I’m saying lol.

Pass rush took a massive step back. Yeah we get held alot, but still.

It all starts upfront.

Need to go all out on DL in the porta and drop massive bags for Brewster, Jacobs and Currie.

This is the way.

I’m sitting on my couch watching UNC line up their best two receivers on the boundary side in the red zone. I said before the play they going to 45 with Poyser as single safety. Qb looked him off and what do you know. A coach can coach you all day and night but you have to have football IQ as a player. There is no threat on the other side. Line up on purpose shading that side qb going to think he has an easy td. U be line over the top soon as his arm goes back that’s a pick or pbu.

Samething Thornton did vs FSU on the Duece td. It’s on film and every team going to run a concept of that against or safeties.

Take a deep breath people. Dog fights happen. It’s not rats off a ship. Just appreciate we won a game we historically would lose in prior years. Things will be corrected.
