5 things I expect to see

I'm still torn on 3rd and medium/long if we pin our ears back.. they run Soo much QB draw on 3rd down to set up 4th down and that Louisville draw still haunts me as we rush up field and ball pops underneath..

New hc who may change that dynamic but definitely something to pay attention to

I agree with you and that’s my biggest question going into the game: how will the D minimize TC scrambling???

I expect OM to roll the pocket to help with pressure . Scott blitzing off the edge could counter that.
Agreed

Miami defenders need to finish the sack a bit better this game. We should have an extra 2-3 each game over the past 2 months

This may be true, but Miami is top three in sacks/game on the year, and the sack rate almost tripled after the SMU game. So if there's still meat on the bone, then let's ******* go.

the two times we left points on the field v TOSU were (a) the mark flecther jr. fumble at the 19 on our second possession and (b) the last possession of the first half where Dawson's play calling (by his own admission) was **** poor (calls for a deep ball and Beck gets sacked, followed by a jet sweep and 70 fails to block Styles and we lose 4 yards. we were never getting explosive plays with deep safety coverage. they took that away from us. plus great tackling by them prevented short passes from being broken into explosive plays.

/we IMO can win without explosive plays.
Agree, and we have shown that throughout the year, since we aren't an especially explosive offense (3.7 20+ yard plays a game against FBS foes). Wouldn't hurt to perform tonight like we have the entire year, explosivity-wise, on offense though.

For me it comes down to offense. I don’t expect us to hold them to 14 points. We need to score TDs in the red zone and not turn the ball over like we did in our losses. It’s really that simple to me

I think they score 21. Decent offensive showing by them except that we put up 38.

Chambliss is a mobile QB, but isn’t a run first QB. Cam Ward-ish in a lot of respects. The way you deal with that is just to concede that he will pick up a few 1st downs with his legs. Those aren’t backbreakers. The backbreakers are the 30-40 yd completions from the scramble drill when the DBs lose track of the WRs. He can be contained.

Can’t let stribling get behind us on broken plays or when pass rush doesn’t get home. We aren’t catching him from behind

This. Great thread btw.

We have had 1 offensive play - the Fletcher run against A&M - of more than 20 yards in our two playoff games.

Don't know if anyone can filter for it, but I can't imagine upsetting a team favored by more than a TD with your longest offensive play going for 19 yards - as we did against OSU - has happened more than a handful of times in college football since the forward pass became a thing.

Our offense has been pretty efficient executing in a phone booth, but we've also left a ton of points on the field on offense in the playoff, because we haven't produced explosive plays. I'll breath a lot easier tonight if we expand our margin of error a bit by hitting some explosives.
It’s why the lack of penalties has been one of the biggest factors for us so far

Literally adding 90-100 yards to our team total

Yes we were pushing OSU around but one holding call, a couple presnap penalties etc could have changed that game completely

We walk way too fine a line on offense because we don’t hit explosives like…at all

People talk about the Louisville game all the time but if Mauigoa doesn’t get a penalty on our first drive I really don’t think we lose that game. Might sound absurd but we just **** around too much with that margin for error

Keep it clean tonight and I think we roll

1. Michael Irvin
2. Ray Lewis
3. Edgerrin James
4. Sebastian Ibis
5. Abella Danger

Outside shot a cameraman finds Miami native Riley Reid in the crowd.

100% agree Spot drops from the LOS will be seen and be a chance for a huge play.

I very much expect (or hope?) to see a force player to the field side because lacy will look to bounce that zone and it neutralizes that strength a bit.

I expect them to reverse their traditional soft zone/8 man drops and blitz from all over. Likely some cat blitz and some overloads with a stunt coming. The only hope vs us is to panic Beck and pray. Otherwise we will run them to death assuming the defense holds up

Yup for his size has great speed.. *Pause* Feels like they been saving his for end of season, his usage has increased and he KILLED UGA with those hide packages in backfield in last game.. Idk if that was just a uga thing but he had his biggest game of season with that hide package..

some explosive plays thru season:

He is so playmaker. DB’s have to be smart with angles and wrap up or it will be a long night

Facts. Cleaning up the penalties has helped the offense out so much. This year, we are a high success rate (#16 in the country)/low explosivity (20th percentile) offense. Last year we were #2 in success rate and in the 98th percentile in explosivity. Even those 5 yard pre-snap penalties were poison to our offense.

Want to add, I'm optimistic we solve the lack of explosives, in the run game at least, against Ole Miss. I went and checked and prior to the playoffs 12.3% of Fletcher's carries went for at least 10 yards. In the 2 playoff games that share has jumped to 22.2%. With the way our OL, TEs, and WRs are run blocking, it's only a matter of time till he starts turning more of those 10-19 yard runs into 20+ yarders, IMO.
