5-star WR Calvin Russell commits to [checks notes] Syracuse? For real, though... Syracuse

Happy for the young man and his family. Pick up a nice financial package, play some basketball (yeah, right), enjoy being coached by Fran and lovely Saturdays in the super-sized tent.
All that said, Syracuse might be one of the most depressing mid cities in the country. Forget the weather three quarters of the year. Lived in the area and speak from experience. It’s a dumpy place you run from, not to.

Lol at the “we don’t deserve to land those kids cause we haven’t been good” excuse. Boy yall should start writing books, that’s ******* hilarious and pathetic 🤣

And those NIL numbers are from a notorious troll account. I know ya’ll wish they were real though for excuse purposes.

I wish him the best. In this day and age, if he signs with Cuse then these are only one year contracts. He may portal up after next year or the next. If Miami wants him then they will go after him. If we don't need him then we won't go after him.
no one knows whether the rev share contract will be one year or multi years.

I can live with this loss but Miami is still missing on too many top notch WR’s and DT’s. Something is wrong with this picture and there is no denying it’s a reflection with certain staff members. At some point, we need to fix this problem.
So you’re suggesting we get rid of Beard?

Melo son will be gone by the time he gets there. Melo's son if he is anywhere near as good as advertised will be a one and done.

Melo’s kid isn’t a one and done type of recruit. He’s going to need at least 2 years. He should be very good there but he isn’t close to being on the same tier as the top guys in his class that are one and done

I simply don't see the loss here.
You’re still losing another top blue chip WR from Miami, with family ties to Miami, and from a high school Miami needs to build a pipeline to. It’s more of a bigger picture rather than the loss of Calvin. That being said, I agree with how Miami handled its strategy with him at the end.

Obviously but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be doing better in key spots. WR, DT and LB has been inconsistent with our top targets.
Just need an ace signal stealer like Clemson and Michigan had and watch how great our LB classes look. Come to think of it, Oklahoma always had great linebackers under Venables too… our very own Connor Stallions 👀... Connor Caballos(?)

SYRACUSE HAS NEVER BEEN GOOD IN HIS LIFETIME, THEY'VE BARELY BEEN RESPECTIBLE IN MINE(And I'm **** near 40) AND THE LAST TIME THEY WERE CONSISTENTLY NATIONALLY RELEVANT, I WAS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
Little different dynamic. Fran has been in South Florida high schools since his days with Temple and Baylor. Long time to establish relationships

What exactly was the strategy? Legitimate question, as I have not really seen it spelt out.

He were go with the playing dumb shít. Not even talking about 5 stars. We are struggling with 4 stars. When the last time a&m, auburn, uf, fsu been elite?
Jojo trader? Ny Carr? Josh Moore? like wtf you gotta be trolling bro those are all top 100 WRs lol but we’re struggling with 4 stars ??? Go look at the Blue Chip ratio in the WR room and get back to me bra smh 🤦🏾‍♂️.. we 100% struggle landing elite 5 stars at WR but yall be mutting it ngl.

He’s going there because of basketball homie, I guarantee you he would NOT be at Syracuse if he was 100% only playing football in college, I promise you that. There’s a reason LSU/OSU/Bama didn’t even press for Jit.

His relationship with Brown is the biggest reason.

Do not want kids who think they can play football and basketball.

They will not be invested the way we need them to be.

This kid may be great(I’m not sold, but there potential is there), but an easy pass for those who want to be dual sport.
