4-star S Gant sets trip to FSU, outlines his current UM recruitment

Lack of communication isn’t nessecarily a bad thing. This could also mean they are zeroed in in their targets and not wasting time and resources in guys with no intention to come here. Y’all out here panicking in July like a bunch of little girls.
Hopefully that’s the case

It’s obvious this kid is all FSU. So we whiffed on Battle, Stevenson is us or UGA, and MAR is dead set on offense. We’re losing JJ and Redwine after this year and no have no one with any experience behind them. Not sure why we cooled on Gant but I would have kept the full court press on him.

So keep pressing for a kid who isn’t coming? Isn’t this what you all hated about the staff doing with Jobe last year. No reason to waste time with a kid that is clearly going to another school. Our starters at safety next year will be Hall and Amari Carter along with Stevenson in the rotation. Just cause MAR is dead set on offense doesn’t mean he ends up there. We also have Frierson or Blades who might end up at Safety. I’m sure the staff is aware of our needs.

Gonna have to side with the staff on this one. Gant is one of those kids that clearly is not serious about coming to the U, but he wants our full attention. If you really want to come to the U, then come to Paradise.

Oh, and he wants to wait until NSD... Nope. Red ******* flag all the way.

Keep tabs on the kid because you never know how things will play out, but he's a soft chase -- I would not go hard for this kid at all.

I know for a fact that is a lie.

So the staff isn't recruiting anyone anymore? Or is CIS just doing interviews with kids that aren't hearing from the staff?

Fine. Then spill it. Tell us what you know.

What I know is he has genuine interest in Miami but why go somewhere that barely speaks to you and the only time they speak to you is when you reach out. All the same time you see the same staff bending over backwards for Battle. Richt and the staff has already built a reputation of prioritizing Tri-County kids over everyone else. Is there isnt a Tri-County kid who is of equal or better talent then and only then do they go outside their borders.

I'll tell you this, If Gant was prioritized just as much as Battle, he is probably a Cane right now. The only reason why FSU has a leg up is they made him feel he is a priority not a second or third option like the Miami staff has.

That's a lazy view. There's always stud safeties just this time last year and the year before there were kids we thought we had no chance with OOS or didn't know about who came here abd maybe they're already on them. There is a very long way to go

It's hard when your ranked Top 5 safety in the country, visit the instate school you like the most, visit on your own dime only to be told you aren't a priority and that Jordan Battle is the main priority.

This all eggs in 1 basket philosophy when it comes to recruiting is biting us more than it is helping us.

Gotta ask how do you know the staff prioritized Battle over him. we don't know where he sits in the board.

I hear your point and thanks for sharing the intel.

Battle vs. Gant - that’s a tough one and I could be swayed either way. Guessing the staff preferred Battle due to the STA pipeline.

Regardless, the single-focus approach is very feast or famine. When you let it be known that Kid A is the priority, then you better hope and pray you sign Kid A. Or hope that Kid B is determined enough to show his worth and prove the staff wrong.

I’m genuiunely hoping that they have Stevenson in the fold else their strategy was bad.

Were loosing MJ, Dean, Redwine, and JJ after this year which leaves Hall, Carter, Knowles at Safety Bandy, Frieson, Ivey, Bethel coming back! In this 19 class if MAR wants to play offence an Stevenson burns us thats 3 safetys no targets but no communication with Elam, Davis, Gant (late) Battle (late) dream land with Steele missing top d1 talent in iur own back yard no reason none of these boys are canes Couch is going to need a year, Brownlee is really a plan c were happy with cause after him we have Good smh if your happy with that hope ur happy bein a 9-10 win team every year cause this not gonna cut it not crying just being real man

Who exactly are we recruiting? This is getting ridiculous because you can never have enough ballers on Defense. Elam? No. Gant? No. Davis? No.

Sounds to me like he wanted Miami to show him lots of attention so he could claim that it was a tough decision as he puts on a Noles hat.

I don't think Miami is putting all it's in one basket, I think they decided not to put a Gant egg in the basket since they caught wind that he was heavily favoring FSU. Miami's only hope would be if FSU totally screwed up his recruitment, which isn't likely. So yeah, technically he was still "open" because he wanted Miami to make it interesting, but he is going to be a Nole.

I haven’t had many opinions on what the staff does in terms of recruiting, and I like a lot of the things that they do. I really wanted Gant, he is going to be a special player. If we miss on Stevenson (not saying we will miss) you can’t but be concerned with the direction of the secondary recruiting. I don’t think this is a Dontae Lucas situation where I was a proponent of not recruiting him further because of his just over the top way he had conducted his recruitment. Lucas literally called out the coaching staff for not contacting him after he had already committed to FSU. I think Gant situation is different, I hope after dead period they at least try to see where they stand with Gant. But as a lot of people have pointed out, it’s probably too late. Gant is a special player. Gant and Gurvan hall patrolling the secondary would be a sight to see!

Thanks Stefan for all the information. I know recruiting is fluid and u never know who might end up in this class but some of these I sense we have no shot with. Hope u r hearing something we are not.

DB recruiting always suspect as *** at the new U. Rumph/Banda have to step up this year there is alot of D1 talent out here idk y we r taking projects. Elam Battle Davis Gant Dent Sang Stevenson MAR, did i miss anyone?

Wats the over/under on how many we pull 2.5. I take the under.

Bottom line our DB recruiting is suspect as ***. I still have no idea why Good has a commitable offer and we slow play studs like Gant Elam n Davis.

like the article. It basically let us know where our coaches stand with him @Stefan Adams. They backed off right before the dea period. They are all in on stevenson ( im thinking hes headed sec) battle went osu. Not even looking at Elam. They better have a new eval wave coming soon imo to be on the safe side at that safety spot
