30 carries for Knighton. 4 for Franklin and Brown combined

He's getting beat up. He's not a guy that can carry the ball 30 times every week.

Another stupid thing is not using him more in the passing game. Take away some of those carries and give him some short pass catches that accomplish the same thing.

Knighton should rush the ball 15 times a game. No more. Give Brown and Franklin more carries.
I disagree, we're just speculating Knighton can't handle it. Knighton says he wants that type of workload every game. I personally hate a RB by committee system. Knighton should get at minimum 20 touches a game. Now if you want to bring in Thad or Cody for short yardage and Goal line stuff then I totally understand.

I've mentioned previously that Cam Harris played every single play for six consecutive quarters at running back before the coaching staff decided to give Cody Brown a small number of plays. This is horrible roster management IMO.

The real culprit is the fact that Lashlee only appears to have one running play in his playbook and that play is not conducive for larger, slower backs, hence Brown & Franklin cannot be productive in his system. Also, our O line appears to have no power run blocking ability. This further hurts the ability to use Brown & Franklin.

We could vary our runs a bit and then we wouldn’t have to worry where they are in pass pro every time we run RPO. Shouldn’t be a foreign concept for lashlee to create touches for others

20 plus TOUCHES is much different than 32 CARRIES, lol. Especially when 10 of those carries are inside dives that get him smacked.

There are two other scholarship backs on the roster. They are both bigger. They would have been preferable in short yardage were they weren’t required to block. It’s also good to give your number one back rest. We all know who’s hurt. However, that shouldn’t limit the coach from using athlete that have played in games before. It’s not smart…. Nothing new to see here
Cody brown got stopped on a short yardage play..2nd time this szn. Rooster is our top weapon..you get him the ball as much as ******* possible because he can change the game with 1 touch..you don’t give up that mans touches unless he needs it..yesterday, clearly he was fine and still had juice

Cody Brown got stuffed on back-to-back plays. It doesn’t matter who we put in there if our short-yardage playcalling remains pedestrian and our o-line continues to get blown off the ball.

Before the other 2 went down this was his system. When the 2 guys starting ahead go down your options change. Two true fresh that are good now, not great, will get limited carries. This may change but he is trying to win now. We need to keep the chains moving. We ***** about him playing the best players and when he does we ***** it's too much. I hate his runs up the gut on short yardage but this guy really can't win.

If the TOs don’t keep that game close..Rooster doesn’t have too give us what he gave yesterday
I understand if they feel the necessity to use him that way this year given that maybe they don't trust the two true freshman in close games.
I hope long term that not the way he is used because I think that will take away from his effectiveness. Hopefully Don comes back healthy and they find the right number of carries between them.

Knighton says he can handle it, not every game will be 32 carries but somewhere between 24-28 seems about right in my opinion

I think he’s the only back lashlee and hickson trust to be on the field to handle any situation..it’s not just about getting a handoff but Pass pro etc. if we had a big lead 4 doesn’t see that many snaps..but in a close game you ride your guys

I'd like to save him with less carries rotating in some bigger backs.

But Knighton should be on the field as much as possible. Get him working in the passing game instead of all the carries.

This is my big issue with Lashlee's offense. We rarely use the running backs in the passing game aside from the occasional screen play.

I don't disagree with that. Pass pro is something people often overlook when talking about RB's. Often is the reason true freshman RB don't play as much as we think they should. Ultimately you need at least two you trust in any situation. Just the physical nature of the position.
