3 days later, are you more/less impressed with the win over florida?

i'll say this, i'm shocked by the positivity we're getting from most media outlets ... i was sure they'd murder beck for his performance, but the defense has been the talk of the town
best of both worlds.... anyone who watched the game it was clear we absolutely dominated the LOS and the game should not have been close. Anyone who didnt watch the game looks at the box score and sees a 3td blowout with an offense of UF that had less than 150 total yards. Hence the praise coming from both sides.

However, lots of teaching moments on that tape. Missed blocking assignments, pre-snap penalties, bad snaps, bad communication and effort on their lone TD drive, game closer than it needed to be for 3 quarters, drops from the WR, bad ball placement by Beck, Bain will tell you himself he missed 2-3 sacks and he will be ****ed at himself. I like having this bye week now, gives us time to regroup after beating 2 of our bigger rivals, get healthy, go to the drawing board, I hate the bye in two weeks, just dumb scheduling but is what it is.

As a fan of 40+ years, the defensive performance was reminiscent not only of the 2000-2003 'Canes, but also the vintage defenses of the late '80s early '90s. Loved the physicality. And more importantly, they played physically within the rules of today's game.

I remember a lot of games when we were at our peak that we still had games like that offensively.

Ken Dorsey
2000 vs La Tech 16-31 185 1TD 3INT
2000 vs Temple 12-23 205 2TD 1INT
2001 vs BC 20-41 222 0TD 4INT

And there were a handful of other games where if you looked at Dorsey's stats they weren't great.
But guess what - in those games we ran the ball and our defense was ferocious!!!!'
And Dorsey’s strength was that he was a game manager. I thought several times on Saturday that Beck was doing the same. He made many good decisions that an inexperienced QB would not have made.

great point ...

MORE impressed with running game and defense..

I'm still not 100% sold we can win if we HAVE TO pass the ball...

still not sold on Beck specifically.. his accuracy has been mostly good all year but there have been some crucial throws in the first 4 games that have been off target that haven't been as noticed because receivers have made great catches (CJ against ND, some of the very low throws on 3rd down that were caught for 1st downs. underthrown deep ball to josh moore against USF he caught for a TD. throw to Brown behind his back one handed catch). there have been at least a dozen bad throws that the receivers covered up with good catches... you take away 2 or 3 against ND (or maybe even just the CJ Daniels TD) and we might lose that game..... if we needed to pass to win that game I'm not sure he could have done it with the way he was playing...

THIS

Was thinking when Thomas sacked Lagway that play could have gone wrong in about 100 different ways. Lagway is a big kid. Thomas didn’t let the moment get to him and go for some crazy kill shot he stayed within the rules and executed it perfectly

that was the most aggressive looking defense on prime time TV this year
as bad as carson was, any true football pundit knows **** like that happens esp with the weather
but the intensity and violence our defense played with was something not seen all year this year by any team
this was the closest thing i have seen to a physical assault on TV before
it was beautiful
just need to repeat that energy at FSU

It was raining before and during the game. We weren't supposed to air it out all night in those conditions. We got up early, leaned on our OL (biggest strength of our offense), and ran the ball (pretty well).

The 13-7 score late in the game wasn't indicative of Saturday night's lopsided performance. We know the drill, and so does America. We had a TD wiped off the board, and were smashing the gator.

Defense played lights out. Unrelenting. Absolute annihilation. Nostalgic, tbph.

The final score didn't matter. America witnessed the beatdown at Hard Rock. Canes won 33-7*

We beat a hated rival who came in with nothing to lose and everything to gain by beating us and hurting our CFP chances. Anyone with half a brain knew it would be a tough fight.

And the weather/field conditions were not great for a stellar passing attack.

So we did what we needed to do and physically beat them up with a punishing defense and ground game.

We got the W. It wasn’t pretty but who cares?

We more than doubled the spread. It was raining all day, they called back a TD and we didn’t play clean (penalties) which put us behind the sticks on a few drives. It was pretty clear that we held back on the passing game bec it was a risk with the rain and our line was bullying them, it was a matter of time before they broke. They also looked like high schoolers on offense so trusting the D made sense. The end of the game wasn’t a fluke.

We are no lower than 6th on any AP voter's ballot.
More AP voters have us at #1 than they do #6.

Where they have us ranked after this week's games is going to tell us a lot.

#3 Penn St plays #6 Oregon
#4 LSU plays @ #13 Ole Miss
#5 UGA plays #17 Alabama

And if for some reason ND loses at Arkansas, it'll give the media an opening to bash us over our schedule.

I am more impressed. I will openly admit to getting pretty tight mid-late 3Q and wondered if Mario was going to Mario. Non-Miami fans didn't see/feel that. My brother said I just have 20 years of Miami PTSD.

The rest of the viewing public seems to have seen Miami dominate with a C+ offensive performance and understands it was more of a beatdown than the score indicated.
