Texas' pull within the state has lessened dramatically. Texas A&M has huge pull in Houston, all of east Texas, and some of D/FW. Oklahoma probably has MORE pull in D/FW than Texas. Yes, I'm sure a Saban and a few NCs would change that to some degree, but sometimes you folks act like Texas really does just cherry pick everyone in state. That's not the case and it wasn't the case even when they were getting #1 classes. The whole state gets raided by OOS teams, particularly Oklahoma, OSU, LSU, and Arkansas, and of course the Florida schools take some of the best kids out every year.

Florida State should be #1. They have state school pull, huge alumni base, FAMU, more positive media than any school in America thanks to Bowden era, and they are immediately the #1-3 option for kids as far south as Miami well up into Georgia. You have to ***** up really bad to not land a top 10 class @ FSU.

Texas is hands down the best in the country. When they have a competent coach, they have the pick of the litter from one of the top 3 talent producing states in the country plus all the money they could ever need, facilities, etc...

This. Texas is the #1 program. Money, facilities, local recruits (the entire Big12 waits for UT's leftovers). Mack Brown should be ashamed of himself. With all this, he had 1 NC in 16 years. With a real HC, UT could be a powerhouse.

A&M has the potential to surpass Texas due to their conference affiliation. If Texas doesn't hit a homerun hire and continues to be mediocre, A&M will be #1 in that state. They have deep pockets too and a huge alumni base.

You could make an argument for either. I'd take FSU but obviously your point has a ton of merit.

I can't see FSU and that's not hatred either.

North Florida for the most part is Gator region as is the central florida area. Miami when they're good has south florida. For FSU to be good they have to not only compete with UF and Miami but they also have to reach into regions with other powerhouses (Bama, Georgia, Louisiana, etc.) to remain at the top. That's not a situation many coaches would succeed in.

Look no further than the mid to late 80's. FSU came up because UF was on probation then in the 90's Miami got on probation so they could stack talent. That 12-20 year period is the only period FSU has ever been elite. And of course you have now when Miami has been down for an extended period and UF is on a 5-year downturn.

I agree. LOL at the FSU hype. The arrgument is stronger for them not being in the top 10 than it is for being #1. Overall, I don't think it's a bad list.

lmbo at anyone who thinks FSU should be #1. It's Texas and FSU belongs no where near that convo. Matter of fact, if you were to pick a Florida school it would be UF. They have more money, a power conference, a larger alumni and fanbase, and a more accomplished history. Also stop the FAMU talk them kids just like ***** they don't care what color it is, just look at how many of them are dating snow bunnies right now.

The thing is Texas still has something A&M doesn't and that is the admiration of the entire state. What we wish we could get from South Florida kids, their coaches abd parents, Texas gets from entire state. A&M will be challenged to replace Manziel in a very tough conference. Can they keep winning? If not, Texas is always the right coach away from being elite.

first off if I'm white, I wish someone would let sfl law enforcement know.

Second as someone who knows tons of former players (alot that went to state) and is around teenagers all the time they don't give a **** about color, like I said ***** is *****. This isn't the sixties anymore, open your eyes these kids are dating latinas and snow bunnies. **** even when they do date a black girl it's normally some type of redbone most of the time. Regardless were talking about college kids trying to find something to slay not start a life with. That's why Winston was in the mess he was just in. He has a fine *** black girlfriend yet he's up in Tally slaying tons of white girls (tons of them) along with the rest of those kats. Don't nobody care about needing to have access to a black school (which is also means more black dudes to compete for puss with), if that was the case black kids wouldn't be running to UF, AL, AUB, UGA, Ark, Ole ****, etc.

Why do we produce the best players if we can't recruit the best talent?

This is the best recruiting job in America because you are located next to the best recruits. Anything else is overthinking.

As long as they had sufficient # of schollies to give, FSU was pulling in top 5 classes when they were choking annually, looking like absolute hot mess, and the head coach was literally unable to remember kids' names. That doesn't happen at Texas.

FAMU + media charm (and they are ABSOLUTELY one of the most fluffed programs in the nation) + Florida/Georgia talent + gigantic popularity.

Are you really trying to question Bobby B as a recruiter? They didn't just fall into top 5 recruiting classes that dude could recruit his *** off even as an ole senile man. Give them an incompetent coach and talent won't just fall out the tree into their lap. I don't know what media charm you think FSU has that a Texas, ND, Bama, OSU, UF, or USC doesn't. **** Texas has their own network and ND is the only show in town on NBC and was able to steal a BCS spots from other more deserving teams just by being an alright team.

Towards the end of his career those 17 year old kids didn't give 2 ***** about no Bobby Bowden.

It has but they had their run where they were literally the only game in town for a LONG time. Much like USC was in the mid 2000s.

ok we'll agree to disagree then if you think Antone Smith didn't give 2 ***** about Bobby Bowden when he had his momma boohoo crying at his announcement ceremony or a nerd like Myron Rolle or Brandon Warren spurning Tenn just to name a few that he stole during his senile years.

Miami has done a bunch to upgrade the facilities. I don't see that as an excuse like it was before. The practice field is about the only thing left, and they are addressing it. Didn't know it wasn't lighted.

Texas is losing it's spot as top in the country.

A&M and Baylor are both picking up tons of elite Texas kids (look at their classes) and are on the rise. IMO with Oklahoma etc easily picking up Texas kids that state is going to be more crowded then Florida is recruiting wise.

Still has money but the facilities aren't up to a few other schools. (In age & how modern they are)

Personally I think Miami has to rebrand our selves into Stanford east. They are a similar school in everything but endowment.

We are already getting elite academic kids on the lines just need to keep it up and get kids like Solomon Thomas (Stanford bound) to head cross country to us. Just need to recruit elite QBs like Olsen and Kaaya. Pluck a few elite skill players from south florida that don't have rocks in their head. That is a winning combo. Need to focus on more character kids, Alumni would give more to football if Miami could shed the stigma in how our program is dirty and filled with thugs. Golden has been making strides but if we could rebrand ourselves like Stanford it would be amazing.

The better the facilities, the crappier the town.

This is soooooo true I've been to Virginia Tech, great facilities, but it's in the middle of bumfvck Virginia, smells like cow pies and with all of their great facilities still no Crystal Balls
