2026 Roster Discussion

You can have 5’9 guys on your team but they can’t have dad bods. I mean Bodine on Coastal is only about 5’10 but looks like a bulldog. Barthol is 5’9 in cleats but lb for lb is prob as strong as anyone in college.

I know Soto is legit but some of these guys are leaving the facility and prob eating pop tarts and crushing bang energy drinks. Also drink liquor not beer when you get drunk.

Yup. They need to look like Michael Torres, not Gaby Gutierrez and Gonzalez.

The University of Miami….THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI…one of the 5 best programs in the history of the sport, came to bat with 1 out and the bases juiced in a winner take all super regional game and walked a first baseman to the plate who is 5’8 and 165 pounds, and is hitting .230 with 1 home run on the season and he’s batting 6th and your every day first baseman and people think the program is on the right track LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
Couldn’t have said it any better. Sad but true. And pathetic!

Renzo is out of eligibility and we brought in West from FIU for 1B.

If Torres can hit .250-.270 and get on base, and he’s shown signs of it down the stretch, that’s absolutely fine for that glove in CF.
Renzo took a RS last year

You’re right. Forgot he missed last year. If it makes you feel better, they did honor him on Senior Night, so it doesn’t seem to be in the cards either way.
Ya I mean he’s not playing with West and Copeland in the picture.

Just hope Copeland doesn’t get drafted too high and dips like the other kid we had signed last year from MDC that would have probably hit 4-5 for us this year.

Also need quality depth, guys that are not hitting .150 off the bench , guys that belong in a UM uniform
Agreed. And I don’t wanna knock this team because they definitely played with some heart out there and truly gave a **** about trying to win.. their just not that talented outside of say Cuvet, Ogden, and Walters.

I’m just looking to next year if we want to make Omaha and be a true contender to win it all

We also need to quit dropping series against UF and FSU in the regular season

We played way above our talent level this year

I hear ya but at least he made contact. Jason Torres would have struck out on 3 straight swing and misses.

Funny how Bama and UF were gloating about taking Torres and Blake Cyr from Miami last year and by the end of the season both fan bases hated them with a passion.
.... But if he would have struck out on 3 straight swings and misses it would have been better than what actually happened...

“At least he made contact”

25 trips to Omaha, and this administration has reduced us to saying “at least he made contact”.

Blow everything up with a nuclear warhead. Please.

The team needs 2-3 more big bats in the lineup. 1st base is a glaring need. I like Renzo. He's a great infielder, but his bat is holding back that position. Ideally 1B needs to hit double digit HRs or at minimum a high average driving in runs.

Secondly, there is a need for power in the OF. Maybe Kulikowski takes the next step. At least 1 power bat. Preferably two. I think Torres is on track to becoming a 300 hitter. He showed some good ABs in the regional and super regional.

The elephant in the room is SS and 2B. That's a lot of skill and production to replace. Need some athletic guys with pop in the bat that hit for average and close to double digit HRs.

I think the pitching will be fine. Some good arms returning and the portal will solidify the staff.

The hitting was the only thing that kept this squad from Omaha. Several guys contributed, but the consistency wasn't quite there. Even without thr consistency, there was an opportunity to win the super regional.

I think 2025 was a very successful year. The team had a legit opportunity to get to Omaha. A few costly plays made thr difference, including the bad strike 3 call on Renzo that would have eventually plated st least 1 run from 3 would be consecutive walks.

There's a lot to look forward to. The bar has been raised for 2026. Go Canes!!! 🙌

I'll be doing a podcast and an article this upcoming week with ….. guys who I can see us moving on from
With you having been in that locker room with those guys, no need to appease the board with this topic.

You’re obviously welcome to do whatever you want and if you’re comfortable with it… but no need to rub some of them the wrong way if you don’t have to.

Where is Copeland projected to play next season?

I don’t want him to burn bridges but some balanced takes would be good. We know we aren’t getting that from Erick or D$ in here either telling us they are going to lie or talking body types and physicality, respectively.

A fair roster review capping of 2025 into 2026 isn’t unreasonable. Otherwise it’ll just be baby bot’s multiple thread on 1 topic again

Curious about some guys that have the ability to return and see if some of you cats closer to the program know what went sideways.

Brandon Marsh did he get hurt or just completely fall out of favor
Collera - is this freshman growing pains or is he a miss (size and stuff from what i watched earlier in the season seemed right)
Is DeGoti gonna hit enough to challenge for a spot
Catcher transfer seems like a must
Will Robert be on track to make opening day ( i personally think trying to start him would be a mistake)
