yes

I hate the idea of a cap simply because the NCAA has no backbone to fight those who go over the cap.
I'm not necessarily pushing for a cap, more, i'm pushing back on the idea that college payrolls will only be $50mm in 2 years. That seems low to me given the revenues per team.

I do think coaching salaries ( and the crazy money for facilities) will need to drop and more of that money will go to players

Not much, trying to chill and just talking a little trash to the garbage around me

Imagine worrying about talent when Mario Cristobal is your coach. LOL what a clown show some of yall are.
I mean the dude has played chicken 3 years in a row.

Check my post history, I'm very much a "if Cristobal can't bring the U back, nobody can" poster - but it's uncomfortable as a fan pushing it to the 11th hour every time for a QB.

Ruiz is not as prominent now.

But respect should be paid for Ruiz getting Miami NIL and Collective started. A big debt of gratitude is certainly owed to Ruiz. I believe he was very instrumental in the Bain and Mauigoa class
He was. The 2023 class was a disaster collectively but arguably 3 of our most important players are from that class

Mario has gotten better every single year in talent coverage. He's in a category all himself at this point (with a lot of program support). But I was shook this time around on the QB search.

I guess its all relative.. Maybe not involved in NIL and can buy airplanes and such.. But maybe rich broke

Yeah I just meant he didn’t reach the heights he imagined like funding a stadium for UM. He is definitely not hurting for cash. Still appreciate everything he did to kick of NIL here.

Right. What I’m saying is the school cannot dictate who he does a NIL deal with or doesn’t. The school can’t manipulate who he does or doesn’t sign an NIL deal with. He couldn’t sign a rev share deal to profit off of his NIL generated by Miami in this case.

Mensah could independently seek out an NIL deal with say Coca-Cola. Duke can’t swoop in and cancel the deal. Duke owns his ACC, TV rights. It’s why you have pro athletes who are in leagues sponsored by Nike, and they have Adidas deals. Like the Timberwolves own Anthony Edwards rights for NBA and Timberwolves promotions. But he can make his own deals independently from that. Hence why he’s an Adidas athlete in a league sponsored by Nike. If Duke tries to make that their argument it’s doa the minute it gets to court.

Look, people just need to stop responding to @PalyCane . He has read some vague conclusory statements that clearly serve Duke's interests, and now he is acting like an expert on what Duke "owns".

He doesn't understand. I've tried to be clear on NIL rights for the last few years, but there are some posters who don't understand, but are only too happy to run with the Duke official statement, as if it is Gospel.
