2026 Portal QBs

We saw the mistake that was made last year with Mendoza. Anyone wanting to repeat it again is surprising.

CJ is a better prospect than Kevin Jennings. Give me the talent to pair with a significantly more talented roster than he was playing with at NC State.
Give me anyone at this point.

CJ Bailey's true freshman stats were on par with Heintschel and JKS. His sophomore stats were better than Mendoza's stats last year at Cal.

If he was from Texas instead of South Florida, everybody on this board would be all over him.
Do you have any evidence of any other major program taking a run at him?

I really don't get why we don't just go hard for Chambliss right now tbh.

@DMoney you think Chambliss wins in court to gain a yr of eligibility? Ole Miss signed Knight and a backup. Are they really prepared to pay for all of them? Especially when Knight could be there for 3 yrs starting for them ...

Feel like I'm the only one at all bringing up this possibility. Meanwhile we played against him and he played well. He has CFP experience. His style of play 100% first our offense....

They didn't go after Mendoza last year. And that was before Beck came available.

I love our staff, but they were dead wrong last time and I said so. I think they've been wrong this year. Hopefully, it works out again.
Eventually we will run out of the fairy dust.

Hate? that's a little childish, don't you think?

Bottom line, not everyone on this site is a big Bailey fan. Some talk about him like HE won the Heisman.

Right now talking about Bailey is coping.
Bailey is standing on pride and principle. I find it hard to believe that he's outchea recruiting kids to play with him at NCST, only to leave them flailing in the wind when he signs with us. I could be 100% wrong, but based on how we're hearing that he's handling this "recruitment", I can't see him doing his homies like that. :noidea:. Of course money talks..... but I don't think it's him. Again, I could be wrong.

Like we're about to get that Oregon dude Beaver as a backup or some ****...

But seems top 3 options remaining imo should be/are
- Chambliss
- Fifita
- Bailey

If they were truly homies, they would wish him well.

If Fifita is an option, he's my favorite, because he can do enough positively running and throwing while limiting turnovers.

In 2025 he either threw an INT/fumbled on just 1.68% of his touches (while having the most touches of all the QBs we have been talking about as possible options).

For comparison's sake:
  • Beck: 2.66% "turnover rate"
  • Fifita: 1.68%
  • Jennings: 3.16%
  • CJ: 2.90%
  • ****t on Pitt QB: 3.51%

Yeah D$, why aren’t we pushing harder for ineligible players? Maybe we can give Taulia another shot at an appeal
