2026 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2026 class, is set to announce his college decision.

Rippey will choose from a final five of Duke, NC State, Miami, Tennessee, and Texas. The Brooklyn (N.Y.) native will make his announcement on Tuesday, December 30th at 4:00 PM Eastern at the Major R. Owens Center (1561 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225).

Rippey previously broke down his finalists with 247Sports.

"What stood out about Miami is obviously Jai Lucas being at Duke before, and they had a lot of NBA Draft picks. He was sort of the head of player development and was the assistant coach who had a relationship with the players and was developing them. That's what stood out to me, and he's carried that over to Miami. Guys are always in the gym, constantly getting pro pro-level work ethic."

I'd be surprised to see both Rippey and Jordan Smith at Duke. If Ripley commits, then my guess is Smith is going elsewhere.

Not saying they're identical players, but neither is an especially tall guard that Duke seems to favor

Any idea how big this signing class is going to be?

Reneau, Donaldson, and Udeh are out of eligibility, so at minimum we are losing 3. Am I missing anyone?

The rich get richer.

Per ESPN: Five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. announced his commitment to Duke on Tuesday, moving the Blue Devils to the top of the recruiting class rankings.

Rippey chose Jon Scheyer's program over NC State, Tennessee, Miami and Texas.
Gonna be interesting to see how Rippey and Cayden will be able to co-exist in that lineup.

Buzz between Miami and Brandon McCoy is starting to pick up some steam.

Summary: if Jordan Smith goes to Arkansas, then those guys like our chances with McCoy
Welp we shouldn’t feel secure then….hopefully McCoy isn’t waiting on Smith.

Paul IV Catholic is a Blue Devil pipeline school: Trevor Keels, Jeremy Roach; and currently on the team: Darren Harris + Patrick Ngongba.

Sierra Canyon isn’t a Duke feeder school but they do have two high profile players albeit both of them underperformed in the league: Marvin Bagley III and Cassius Stanley.

Valid point but there is only 1 ball and Duke is becoming full of ball dominant players.
Ripley, Foster and Boozer trying to split the PG minutes will be interesting, especially if they aren't making jump shots.
Which isn't a strength currently.
