2026 Men's Basketball Recruiting

That, and find another big to back up Udeh's replacement.

Plus, find a perimeter player who can shoot 40% (give or take) on a decent volume of three-point attempts.

Looks like the Portal again will be key.

I agree and that is why I was high on Kevin Thomas before he committed to LSU.
Feels like Miami is a consistent shooter and depth away from being a Sweet 16 team.

Our rivals that just beat us just offered my cousin who I ALSO BROUGHT TO THIS BOARD same time as the other that became a lottery pick. @King of Allapattah

I gotta give it to that other program, they recruit the **** out of Florida.

My previous comment was directed towards the current staff at that other school. But if you want to reference the past 6 years, it's been good enough to beat us 12 out of the last 13 times since 2020. 🤷‍♂️
Agree. They continue to have our number, despite who is coaching on either sideline.

I don't know if he can replace Udeh but I feel confident that he can contribute and add some depth to the team.
Gaskins, McCoy and Beck would be a great first recruiting class for Coach Jai.

Should we be just a bit concerned that we only have 1 commit?
Not much change there from previous UM coaching regimes. Lotta being included in a recruit's Final group of teams but ... not getting them in the end.

Portal turns out to be the savior.

if we get the Cody Peck kid, is he starting as a FR type talent or development? other than Dante Allen and Gaskin, its almost a complete roster rebuild in the offseason.. at lease for the best 5-6 spots on team...

Just looked through a few mock drafts, none have Shelton as being drafted in either round. He certainly has the talent, but as of now, im not sure hes getting that draft buzz.

Tru Washington also isn't a senior, he can come back.

So seems like this can be the building block

SG: Tru/Dante
SF: Shelton
PF: Gaskins

I think these first few years are gonna be portal heavy to fill out the starting lineup just because we will have to stack HS recruiting classes. Hitting on more Dante Allen's will help that. You can even argue we hit on all 3 of the overseas guys because they're playing minutes and contributing (even though Altuntas and Dovrat seem limited right now). Altuntas/Malovec are FR while Dovrat is a JR. We definitely hit on Shelton. Maddox is up in the air (hoping he develops, former 4*), and hard telling if Kee/Laboy will ever develop into something here - I kinda doubt it. So out of 7 Freshmen, 4 are contributing in the rotation and 1-2 (Dante/Shelton) are starter caliber? Pretty good.

The only 3 losses (aside from possible transfers) are Tre, Malik, and Udeh. Those 3 slots can be portal fills again.

Overall, I think it's a good mix. We fill 1 spot with Gaskins, and plan for 1-2 portal departures along with losing the 3 SRs, so the numbers mean we'll need 4-5 portals, at least 2 of them impact adds. Jai's not going to bring us Duke-esque classes with multiple 5 stars (ever, I think) - but he doesn't have to as long as he uses the portal well to fill in holes with starters as the rest of the roster develops.

Can we convince the younger Boozer to come home, now that his older brother will be gone to the NBA this year??

I'll take those four as good building blocks for next season's roster. Raid the Portal for the rest.
