2026 DL: This is the way

Do you continue to see Lightfoot as a situational guy or a guy who will get more regular down reps at DE? I still see him as a situational cheat code, but not sure if he's a 1st/2nd down type of guy yet.
He may look more situational in what we did this year because of the way Bain and Mesidor played. I think you can create a front where he is the opposite of situation and instead featured. One more high level offseason and he can make himself a lifetime of wealth. His raw attributes are really that good and he has the motor to match.

The truth is, our greatest DL's over the years were led by having two monsters in the middle. If Moten comes back, he will take over that Bain role for leader of the DL.

Should just praise Lightfoot for what he is and leave Bains name out of it

He’s really nothing like Bain but people can’t help themselves I guess

Lightfoot doesn’t need to gain weight just to gain weight. He’s already a destructive force
He absolutely needs to gain weight. He can’t get off blocks in the run game. 15-20 would do him good

Moten is going to get a nice pay day in Nil
Are you saying he's staying? Someone asked him at the CFP pregame stuff how it felt that this was going to be his last game. He answered the question like it was in fact going to be his last game. Really hope he stays.

our defensive line will be good next year, i have little doubt of that. but 3 and 4 were special. they took over games. i'd expect our defense to take a step back next year (still very good, but not elite) and hope that our offense can take a step forward with mensah.

Agreed. Adding a legit difference-making DE in the portal (and developing our internal five stars) is a must.

It is a profound advantage to have two monsters like Bain and Mesidor. This team did a lot of things well, but that’s what made us special.

@DMoney …Are they taking the Nebraska portal kid too?

If Scott and Moten take the step forward that Bain and Mesi took this year, and Heatherman trains his guys in the back 7 to tackle the ball carrier to the ground, our D can be comparable to this year, just different.
Lmao they were ballers this year!

I think he’s pretty much permanent already. Hopefully he has a good offseason of weight gain. Still only 18.
I don’t really get why people can’t seem to grasp this. Blount played **** near exclusively on the inside this year.

And yes, our ends were better than our interior guys, but I’d assume the staff didn’t exactly want to play those guys 95% of the snaps and wouldn’t have played Blount inside just for the **** of it instead of giving them some rest if they saw him as an edge.

@DMoney
What’s the latest on Cole McConnathy?
