2026 4-star OT Ben Congdon commits to Miami

And this is why I chuckle when people poopoo on stuff like this.

I saw some ****stick comment earlier about how we're paying Cantwell what we're paying him and he might play guard for a year. LMAO. After what we watched the past 2 seasons versus what we watched for the previous 10, how in the earthly **** can you comment a word about the offensive line and how important it is to a football team? ****, look at 2022 vs 2023. Or better, how many times did we lose to FSU in the late 2010's because we simply could not block them?

Here is Miami's yards per carry against FBS teams since 2016:

2016 - 4.01 (87th)
2017 - 4.67 (38th)
2018 - 5.09 (23rd)
2019 - 3.45 (118th)
2020 - 4.24 (71st)
2021 - 3.27 (112th)
2022 - 3.34 (107th)
2023 - 4.98 (20th)
2024 - 5.65 (5th)

Also, in TFLs allowed since we started the cratering in 2019, we finished 117th, 115th, 92nd, and 82nd.

Starting with the 2023 season, we've finished 38th, and 3rd last year. Third! Army is ahead of us, who runs the ball every play and never loses yardage, and we tied Navy. If you'd have told me in 2021 that Miami would finish a season with as few TFLs allowed as Army and Navy, I'd have told you to pass whatever you were smoking.

OL matters. A LOT. It's the entire backbone of a team. There are very, very, very few good football teams who don't have a kickass offensive line.
Those stats need to be placed on Twitter. Whenever somebody starts talking about money, they need to be faced with stats and facts. If I was a recruit on offense, regardless of position, this would be something that would really stick out to me. I mean this sticks out to me right now and I’m not a recruit.

To be honest, unless a pepe changes his mind, this is terrific.
Think both Pickett and Ervin are under ranked and are real quality players. Sparks will have time to develop inside
Not sure Tofi is in the class but he's more than a bench guy

If we project line next year
Mccoy Samson sj cantwell kinsler and one of the "development kids" in the mix sounds solid but little shy on super star gloss
Suspect we will look at one portal starter though.
I think Samson is more of a tackle than guard.

Here is how I see it
LT Samson Okunlola RJR • 6-6 315 • 5 star
LG Matthew McCoy RSR • 6-7 320 • 3 star
C Seuseu Alofaituli RFR • 6-2 290 • 4 star
RG Tommy Kinsler RJR • 6-6 340 • 3 star
RT Jackson Cantwell FR • 6-7.5 - 320 • 5 star

Now the depth of this position is an unknown, but I am confident that Mirabal will have at least 3 more guys ready to play.

Depth Options
OT Jaden Wilkerson RFR • 6-6 330 • 3 star
OT Demetrius Campbell RFR • 6-6 305 • 3 star
OT Ben Congdon FR • 6-7 285 • 4 star
OT/OG Joel Ervin FR • 6-6.5 320 • 3 star
OG Juan Minaya RSO • 6-6 330 • 3 star
OG Deryc Plazz RSO • 6-4 315 • 3 star
OG Max Buchanan RFR • 6-4 300 • 4 star
OG Canon Pickett FR • 6-4 320 • 3 star

Great post!

If Mario and our staff continue to recruit OL and DL like they have the past 3 recruiting cycles, it won’t be a matter of if we’ll be playing for a title, but when.

I agree. Samson is still young and was injured. I still project him to end up being a top notch tackle for us, and a high draft pick. OL and DL can take a few years to develop. Kid has all the tools. Once he puts it all together, watch out.

That’s an NFL roster if you covered their names with just measurables showing.

Mario is serious about it looking a certain way

It takes a lot of things to win big, consistently, at this level. A ton.

But there’s ONE thing that’s consistent among all the big programs and it’s ***-kicking offensive and defensive lines. Taint, UGA, Bama, etc. They’ve won with incredible skill talent, elite QBs, NFL players in the secondary, etc. But they all, year after year for a long, long time, have had dominant fronts.

Even FSU when they were actually relevant under Jimbo. They had DUDES up front.

It’s really the one constant through the big boys of the sport. And you see it at every level.

You can be a flash in the pan and ride a transcendent player or two to a great season. But if you want to be a sustainable program, it all starts with recruiting elite offensive and defensive linemen in high school. Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the sport. He looked like Kyle Wright in the Super Bowl because his offensive line got their souls snatched by the Philly front 4 all night long.

Facts! Great analogy in regards to Mahomes in the SB. The Philly D destroyed the KC OL. They took them behind the wood shed and put a beating on them.

I’m not sure Markel Bell leaves

Congdon’s mon replying to a tweet from a Cantrell family member commenting on how strong the relationships are with Mario and Mirabal.

Mario’s flip rate is probably pretty insane if you really dig into the numbers

We rarely get flipped especially compared to how much we flip other kids. Every visit weekend we get fans crying about a lack of commitments but it’s pretty clear that’s not how Mario does business
