2025 black jersey leak

I’m taking both of these jerseys, & it’s not even close. The only issues I had w Nike were the clam (Zoom Ibis), & the mismatched pro-combats, & the highlighter orange alternatives. Poor designs.

For the record, I don’t find anything particularly wrong w these “new” Miami nights. I would’ve switched the color scheme better so it doesn’t mimic Halloween, but it’s clean & 100% better than the 7-11 jawns.

I’m still salty we let FIU get the black Miami Vice color scheme from Adidas (wasn’t keen on the white version). In my mind somebody at UM turned down that opportunity it would’ve been too clean and a nice alternative. Definitely better than looking like a Halloween or Okie St replica.

Red Flag #3 should’ve been Adidas creating the monicker “Miami Nights” for FIU to play against us at our old crib. ****, it could’ve been called “Vice Nights”, but to give us the theme “Miami Nights” & then turn around to give FIU that same theme should’ve…

Never mind; I have to learn I can’t lead everyone to water.

I don't understand why you all get in 1 camp vs. another (meaning, Adidas vs. Nike camp). When we had Nike, there were a lot of complaints about the product and their interest/creativity in our brand. At the end of the day, I think the fans always expect more than what is delivered regardless whether its Adidas or Nike or UA or Jordan, etc. I think fans expect that these companies have units brainstorming how to make awesome gear for us but in reality I think its an after-thought from the company's perspective.

Orange and black is an abortion from an aesthetic perspective

Also black is not one of our colors, unless an orange blossom has black on it that I forgot about. I don’t understand the obsession with black. It’s also not 2007 anymore and the blackout **** is so played out.

Edit: and to address the inevitable mouth-breathers who bring up recruits liking black jerseys. You know what recruits like above all? Winning. We aren’t gonna lose someone because we don’t wear jack-o-lantern jerseys.

Lol. Not the sneaker or apparel business!

Lol; I figured that, but I was curious if u were in marketing, risk management, client success, or along those lines.

So let me explain how this all works:

It’s not remotely up for discussion that Nike is the most powerful apparel brand both in market share and popularity. Someone thought I was being hyperbolic when I said Nike’s worst year is Adidas, Puma, Under Armour best year…combined.

Part of the reason Nike has been so successful is due to its tech. Some ppl will see just a jersey, but there’s proprietary details in those jerseys that make them stand above the rest regarding performance, & a lot of equipment managers on these stadium tour shows have gone into great detail about this.

Adidas has come along ways, and credit is due (that’s what happens when u buy-out former Nike designers); however, their perception is still a 2nd tier brand for American sports. Their bread & butter is European Futbol, & fashion.

There’s been a lot of bad info put out by various posters in several threads, so I’ll just cut to the chase:

Nike was not perfect w us as far as designs, but they hit more than they missed. The notion of being treated bad is a justification for the move to Adidas. Here’s the thing, these companies actually do brainstorm. Each school has a rep, some of these reps are handling more than one school, but bigger programs have a dedicated team.

That team is the liaison between the AD to the brand. Nike wanted Miami to be their Oregon of the South, which is y no other university outside of NikeU had more uniform options than us. Think of MLB or the NBA & their City Connects; the NBA & MLB r making good $$, & even though I have hated many of these City Connects designs, teams go w it b/c it’s more merchandizing options. There’s still a caveat:

We gave them full leeway to get creative w us; meanwhile a Bama & PSU said “no, we want to keep it traditional.” A brand may come up w an idea, but that doesn’t mean a school has to accept it.

Furthermore, the real reason y most ppl prefer Nike gear over Adidas in athletics is b/c it’s readily available & it’s of higher in quality, particularly the fan jerseys. Also, the shoes provided in school color ways in classic or new silhouettes is far superior.

Perception is reality, & right now Nike continues to dominate championships at the collegiate & professional levels. Nike is synonymous w/ winning. For every Tristen Keys, JJ Smith that r signing w Adidas, there’s…let’s just say lot r w Jordan Brand or Nike. BTW, this concept is not unique to us; UTenn fans have arguing for and against Nike/Adidas, too. It’s part of being human & a fan.

1. I like our current jerseys. Clean and simple like a REAL college football program. No goofy gimmicks. No championship programs uses gimmicky garbage uniforms. That’s for second rate teams that need marketing help.

2. If we HAVE to wear a black uniform once a year, we could do a lot worse than this one. I like it better than the Oregon State uniforms we had last year or those god awful neon light ones two years ago.

I always like your perspective but I don't know.

I'm a Nike guy myself. Nearly all of my non-Canes athletic gear is Nike.

But the Nike stuff towards the end of our tenure with them was very so so. A lot of folks weren't happy with it. I'm not necessarily thrilled with Adidas either (see my earlier post).

In the end, as it relates to just the Canes, to me it's a fairly equal product regardless. Some good, some bad. I wish there was more investment by the apparel brand into the university. Honestly, my buying impulse is likely driven by whether we're good or not. We go 12-0 in the regular season and if we decided to switch to Sketchers I'd be buying it all up.

Anyways, I just think it's all kind of the same.
