Looking deeper at that Notre Dame defense, I realized every decent offense they faced gave them serious problems.
- Week 1 on the road at A&M, the game was tied 13-13 at the 2 minute warning.
- The next week, they lost outright, at home, to Northern Illinois
- Few weeks later, they beat Louisville 31-24, in South Bend. They won the game with 11 first downs, 280 yards of total offense, going 2-10 on 3rd down, with 2 turnovers. How? Louisville absolutely shot itself in the foot all day long.
- At USC, the game was tied late in the 4th quarter, and USC threw back to back 100 yard pick sixes.
- Penn State they could have easily lost
To be fair, they did absolutely demolish some good teams in the middle part of the season. They were a very good team. But it's not like they're some juggernaut that can't be challenged. Everyone on this board ***** on our season and says we could've been 8-4....well ND could have just as easily been 8-4 also. They played 8 games, including the playoffs, where they didn't get to 400 yards of offense. Miami played zero such games.
The total on this game has been dropping, and I can see why. I don't expect this to be a shootout, I think if we can get to 24 on them, we have a really good shot to win. And I don't think that's unrealistic with this offense, at home.
