2023 Transfer portal

UM figures to be pretty active in the portal, so here's an open thread for our transfer pursuits.

Assuming no surprise defections, my guess is we'll have between 1 and 3 scholarships available, depending on what happens with Gak and Wong.

Barry reported that we're looking for a veteran PG, and it goes without saying we'll be looking for a veteran big or two. Because this is an L coached team, we also have to set aside an unfilled scholarship because it looks pretty.

Some uncommitted veteran PG names that caught my eye after doing 10 minutes of research:

Parker Stewart (Indiana) - pedestrian numbers but obviously has high major experience
Xavier Pinson (LSU) - slightly better numbers, but nothing spectacular
Nick Honor (Clemson) - again, meh numbers, but we know he can survive in the ACC at least. FWIW, he's from Orlando
Jaelin Llewellyn (Princeton) - seems like a pure scorer, not sure that's what we want from a PG

I would like to see us grab a scorer who can create their own shot, with McGusty leaving we need someone who can consistently score on all three levels. And maybe a floor general.

I would assume this effects the calculus somewhat. Of course, they told us he was healthy to start the year, and it became obvious almost immediately that wasn't even remotely true.

The guy in the portal who I hope we make a push for is Fardaws Aimaq from Utah Valley. WAC player of the year. Center who is a great rebounder and also stretch the floor.

Came here to say he's leaning Miami. You're getting an AA if his head is in the right place, which wasn't the case in Champaign. Loved him in orange and blue but a change of scenery was needed for both parties.

Jump shots can be fixed. Its been discussed in a couple different threads already, but he had concussion problems this year and looked terrible. I'm not hiding from that, but he was a preseason All-American for a reason; he has a potentially ELITE floor game, which he flashed pretty often his freshman year.
