Delassandros my guy. Cant be touched.I’ll bring Pat’s back to FL for my brother if I’m going to see him shortly after I get back.
Love it. Im not trying to mess with your tradition, but just a little tip Ive found.... Geno's travels better than Pats. I actually prefer Pats a little more of the 2. But they put the meat on the hoagie 1st and then the wiz on top. So the wrapper and wiz sort of gets stuck together and pulls off a little when you unwrap it after your trip. Geno puts the wiz on 1st and the meat on the outside.
Probably sharing too much but these are the dumb things me and my buddy discuss on a 6 hour road trip LOL.
Love Chicago Italian beef sandwiches. That would be shaved imo. I guess some of the ones I deemed chopped on my list could be considered pulled or shaved. Dalessandros though is chopped up super fine. The slabs are like mini slabs the size of your hand and they will stay whole for the most part and put on the hoagie. In comparison since I was just over in IL and had Al's Beef Sandwich
That would be chopped, correct? If someone knows!!??
Came here to say this. Agree 100%Delassandros crushes them both. By far the best in Philly imo.

Now you’re talking my neck of the woodsNow I’m hungry for some Old Forge and Sicilian cuts just thinking about spots…
Goodies Louie's : South Philly, 4th and Moyamensing Ave. Good **** steal, but best hoagie in town. You just opened up a can of worms Tony. Like Pizza or anything of this kind, you will get varied answers and of course, it is particular with what you like. Depending on if you prefer your meat chopped or slabs of ribeye, you could get redirected to different venues. Here are some of my opinions
Dalessandros: Excellent. Meat is very finely chopped up. Seasoned well. (15 minutes off the beaten path) Tends to be longer lines than others
Joes Steak and Soda: Becoming one of my favorites
Steve's Prince of Steaks: Delicious. Cant go wrong. Slabs of ribeye
Jim's: Been hit and miss with me but has a huge fan base. Go to the original establishment if you have a choice on South St.. Chopped meat
Sonny's: Very good. Slabs
John's Roast Pork: One of my favorites. Really really good. Chopped
Campo's: Dont bother
Ishkabibbles: Only had it once..was horrible...but some people swear by it.
Tony Luke's: Weak..gone downhill
Chubby's: Little place right across the street from Dalessandro's if you want to try 2 different ones right next to each other. Decent Cheesesteak
Pagano's in East Germantown on 76th and Ogontz, don't know if they still do, but they used to pack the best to travel steaks and hoagies. Some places tou have to be careful, though.Love it.
