2023 @Temple

Love it. Im not trying to mess with your tradition, but just a little tip Ive found.... Geno's travels better than Pats. I actually prefer Pats a little more of the 2. But they put the meat on the hoagie 1st and then the wiz on top. So the wrapper and wiz sort of gets stuck together and pulls off a little when you unwrap it after your trip. Geno puts the wiz on 1st and the meat on the outside.

Probably sharing too much but these are the dumb things me and my buddy discuss on a 6 hour road trip LOL.
Pats and Genos.... 🖕🏿

You just opened up a can of worms Tony. Like Pizza or anything of this kind, you will get varied answers and of course, it is particular with what you like. Depending on if you prefer your meat chopped or slabs of ribeye, you could get redirected to different venues. Here are some of my opinions

Dalessandros: Excellent. Meat is very finely chopped up. Seasoned well. (15 minutes off the beaten path) Tends to be longer lines than others
Joes Steak and Soda: Becoming one of my favorites
Steve's Prince of Steaks: Delicious. Cant go wrong. Slabs of ribeye
Jim's: Been hit and miss with me but has a huge fan base. Go to the original establishment if you have a choice on South St.. Chopped meat
Sonny's: Very good. Slabs
John's Roast Pork: One of my favorites. Really really good. Chopped
Campo's: Dont bother
Ishkabibbles: Only had it once..was horrible...but some people swear by it.
Tony Luke's: Weak..gone downhill
Chubby's: Little place right across the street from Dalessandro's if you want to try 2 different ones right next to each other. Decent Cheesesteak

Solid list!!! can't go wrong with any of the top five.. Nice job...

Goodies Louie's : South Philly, 4th and Moyamensing Ave. Good **** steal, but best hoagie in town.
Max's King of Steaks: Germantown and Erie in North Philly. Makes an underrated steak in Philly.
Leo's : Sharon Hill, PA off of Baltimore Pike, by the last stop on the Sharon Hill trolley line in the burbs. IT RIVALS DALESSANDRO'S IT IS A MUST TRY

Throwing in my two cents.

Oh, there was this Japanese spot on 13th and Market I went to one time and had a teriyaki cheesesteak. Jawn was bussin.

A Japanese cheesesteak… that sounds like instant grits from My Cousin Vinny..

Pats and Gino’s is more about the experience. To say you did it.

I love Steve’s. But it’s all personal choice.

Donkeys in Camden is awesome too…but it’s only open when the suns out basically.

Just do some research on where you stay and where you go at night…the city is getting a bit more dangerous due to younger kids just not giving an f. They even closed a few Wawa’s in center city.

Pizza Perfect is my favorite in the wilkes barre/old forge area but I live in Hazleton & we have Senapes open since 1908 & it blows them all away.

Yes. Pizza Perfect. Then swing over the hill to Hillside for some ice cream for yourself ..

And this is what you get from a local when mentioning those 2.

You from CT?

I've been to Philly a ton, and never went to either. I plan to, though. I personally wanna see why people slam these spots, lol. Most people I know that pass through Philly go to one of the two and never complain.

Because it’s trendy and people want to act like they are cutting edge.

“Oh god you listen to mainstream music.”

Yes…I do. At times I just turn on the radio yes I love some off the beaten path music too. It’s ok to be well rounded.

Same with cheesesteaks. Sometimes it just fun to be hammered at 2am with Phillies fans eating at Pats.

It’s also fun to watch people stumbling through the ordering process like it’s life or death and to hear comments from the patrons

CT all my life

It’s not as bad as they say. I’ve had some way worse that locals pointed me too. It’s like the cute girl at the bar. Not bad, surely way better out there, but if you are in the area and hungry, or drunk and need drunk food, you will whip out your wallet and pay with a smile.

Nah, not me.
Never liked em. Rather go to Miss Kim's, that's just me, though. Lol

I was going to say “isn’t that one of the oldest bars in the country” and then I clicked the link which clearly confirms my lunchtime bourbon samples at the liquor store did not impact my memory…(relatively speaking)
I ******* love that place. We always go when we are in town.
