If they force this 2 SEC teams in thing…. I hope they get forced to pair them together. Like I hope OU goes undefeated, Oregon wins out, and OSU wins out. I can’t see how they could put 2 loss Alabama in 3rd. Shouldn’t get 4th but at least 4th puts them with UGA immediately again.
My guess is that the SECCG will be the Elimination Game.

Fair enough. I didn’t know about the officiating mistake. I was just baffled initially.
Yeah; it came out via Harbaugh. 7 points was taken away from Michigan that game on a scoop & score. I had a feeling when that came out on Monday, this would be the result of it. I’m just upset that Cincy keeps getting passed up. They beat a top 10 team on the road as a G5. But I think that Tulsa game put pause on the voters.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it earlier in the thread, but does anyone think Oklahoma is being punished by the committee for jumping to the SEC? I mean the Big 12 is supposedly a Power 5 conference for the next couple of seasons, but Oklahoma who is undefeated is not only not in the top 4, but is way back at 8. They are behind 5 one loss teams and an undefeated Group of 5 team!

I know they are eking by everybody on their schedule, but they are winning. Oregon is barely getting by each week, ****, they have a loss, but they are at #3?

Expand the CFP to 8, the 5 power conference winners and 3 at-large selections. Win and you’re in. Then pick 3 at-large from the G5, ND, and conference runner ups. This year this would allow Cincinnati a berth, if they win out. Yes, a G5 team almost needs to be undefeated but they will then work on better OOC games against better P5 teams. Even if you have to go on the road. Miami and FSU had to do that as Independents back in the day.

Anything with votes will error. There will still be controversial choices of the 3 at-large teams I provided above, but you can have rules like a guaranteed berth for one G5 team if ranked high enough; only one at-large berth per conference, to prevent the $EC from stacking the deck.

Spot on. The exact system I've been advocating to implement for years. No system is perfect but at minimum you're creating an objective benchmark (win your conference and you're in) and then still allowing the subjective aspect but relegating it to spots 6, 7 & 8.

You'll obviously almost always get 2 SEC teams at first but I think that might* change if they win less championships as a conference and the pressure on the committee to not ***** a team like Cincinnati would be too great to ever rank them "9th".

The NCAA wants playoff expansion, so they want a two loss Bama getting into the playoffs over an undefeated Cincy and the controversy that will follow. Same reason why they like two SEC schools getting in to the exclusion of other conferences.

I'm curious to see what happens if Texas A&M wins out and if Bama and UGA play in the SECCG and UGA wins. Bama is then a two loss team with a head to head loss against A&M. So would that thwart the CFP Committees NEED to have Bama compete in the CFP? Or do they give everyone the middle finger and say H2H record doesn't matter and still let Bama in over A&M?

Anything to get 2 SEC teams in appears to be their goal. Best case is Bama loses in the SECCG to UGA and then whoever the 4 seed is beats UGA.

Who would have guessed from our bowl game that OK St would be #7?

I said before the season, during the season, and I'll say it again now. Given NDs academic standards for recruits, Brian Kelly is a **** good coach.

Notre Lame is gonna find a way to sneak into CFB playoffs like always and then get blown out by Bama in the semis you just know it!

I think they want Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Cincinnati.

That gives them 2 of their precious SEC teams.
They can say they aren't keeping the group of 5 out.
Most importantly, Notre Dame lets them stick it to the other 4 major conferences, keeping them out. They refused to vote for playoff expansion after the SEC secretly negotiated with Texas and Oklahoma.

There's no way they don't want OSU in the playoffs. Buckeyes = eyeballs.

Wifey is a domer. I honestly believe Kelly would win a national championship at Miami, FSU, or Florida if he had those jobs.

He's done well to match what ND is to what type of kid he recruits, but this was supposed to be an 8-4/9-3 type year for them and they're going to win 11 games. Impressive.

Helps them a lot that they play 5 ACC teams. 🤣

2 Utah schools and 0 Florida schools in the top 20. These are sad times. UTSA and Houston, but no Miami. This is the kind of thing the old guard at the BoT should be embarrassed about if they had any pride
