Man idc this kid needs to play OLB here. Let Williams play as a box safety/drop down to striker on 3rd downs and take Chase and make him a OLB with T2 as the Mike. LB problem fixed in one class.
Chase Smith ready to play year 1? I know he likely won’t need to. Just curious about how college ready he is.

Physically he'll be ready.

But the staff won't play him much because he'll be at Striker behind Frierson & Keontra Smith.
They’ll play him. Neither of them have his skill level. Keontra should’ve been a box guy from the start.

This staff don't play TF's on Defense unless they absolutely have to due to injuries.

Their motto is you have to earn your keep on Special Teams first before you get a chance to get full time snaps.

He'll get garbage time reps when we have a big lead on somebody, but he's not taking any starter snaps from Frierson or K Smith.

Is Frierson about 2 good games away from declaring and going 7th round?

James Williams, Chase Smith & Jalen Harrell are 3 LB sized Velociraptors that can play the Hybrid.

Plus with guys like Tirek Austin-Cave, he adds a similar element of raw speed & explosiveness at LB.

Just need to find a competent DC that can actually get this infusion of talent developed & on the field fast.
