2018 will be a transitional year. But 2019 is a legit run for the NC.

Need another top 10 class in recruiting to be a championship team.

Not enough talent and too much talent imbalance on the roster to make a run. Possibly playoffs but recruiting needs to significantly pickup for the 2019 class for us to be championship material

. Need to land on our top guys. Neal, Bogle, Richards, Ingraham, etc. We also need to croot an elite *** safety or have one of our young guys step up.

Did anyone believe that we were going to get a high energy changeover with Richt? He knew, coming in, that even respectable results would make him shine, compared to Golden. It's now been three years. Be happy with what you see from Richt, because that's all you're going to get.

Right. But we are still hearing talk about playoffs.

I personally think no player should leave early. Like we have said in the past.....if you are a junior and aren't projected as a sure fire first rounder.....you need to stay. First round is where guaranteed money is at, period.

No team in history, not Bama, not Clemson, no one could recover from the losses we suffered on D and win a title. Even the mighty Saban got his *** kicked when he lost his starting LB corps for a game or two, even with all the cant miss 5 star all world recruits behind them. It'll take a year for the influx of talent from the great 2018 class to transition and contribute.

But boy oh boy, when you look at this roster in 2019...wow. And this list doesnt even include instant impact Cane locks from the 2019 class.

QB Williams or Perry
RB Lingard, Dallas, Davis
FB Realus
WR Thomas, Pope, Hightower, Ezzard, Wiggins, Harley, Njoku
TE Jordan, Mallory
OL Donaldson, Reed, Scaife, Hillery, Herbert, Gaynor, Campbell
DT Ford, Silvera, Martin, Miller
DE Patchan, Bethel, Garvin, Rousseau
LB McCloud, Shaq, Steed, Jennings, Joyner
S Smith, Carter, Hall
CB Frierson, Ivey, Blades, Bandy

This is a playoff depth chart. Not a single weak link. Sprinkle in Cane locks like Bogle, Ingraham, Daxon, Brown, Wright, Payton, Stevenson, Mcintosh, Huff, etc and you have the deepest team in the country in a couple years.
Thats a really good depth chart and I'm inclined to agree with you save for one thing. Look at the DL again. At DE Garvin and Rousseau are elite and Patchan is a good rotational guy but there will be nothing else but true freshmen and Patrick Joyner who is a question mark to me in terms of how he will develop at DE. At DT Silvera is a stud, Miller is promising, Jon Ford has the tools but hasn't turned the corner yet and Bethel will be at DT because that is where he can best help the team. The rest will be true freshmen.

Coach Stool really screwed us good by mailing it in. We are going to feel that in 2019 even if we sign 4 DE and 4 DT. Sure one or more of those freshmen DL could be ready to help us right away but thats something we can't count on right now. Next off season, we are going to have to look really hard at the Juco ranks and potential grad transfers. If we supplement a great DL class in 2019 with the right Jucos and/or grad transfers then we could in theory have championship caliber depth there.

Remember that in the off season leading up to our 2001 National Championship season, the staff knew they had to add a couple of pieces to the DL specifically DE in order to galvanize the defense and ensure a title run. They went out and grabbed DE's Andrew Williams and Jerome McDougle. The rest as they say is history.

It's been 16 years. Something has to give. Ask yourself this question. Do you believe in our program and coaches....the players probably think the same.

This ain’t no transitional year if Richt keeps rolling Rosier out there. Gotta let one of the young guns get they lumps in now on this cupcake schedule. Not time for a 5th year senior that’s not draft material wasting valuable snaps

Dani went 6-7 his third year at clemson

10-4 his fourth year and got blasted in the orange bowl by WVU 70-33

Wasn’t until his 5th year he went to a big bowl game and actually won, I would say we’re prstty on schedule.

The team is still pretty reliant on several Golden holdovers but the players from 2017 and 2018 are maturing. 2019 is the year I agree.

Many of these kids who will be moving on soon are already replaceable imo:

Rosier -- Perry or Williams
Willis -- Silvera
Johnson -- Carter
M. Jackson -- Ivey
St. Louis -- Scaife
Gauthier -- Gaynor
Redwine -- Hall
Cager -- Hightower
Mahoney -- Reed
Jones -- Boulware
Gray -- George
D. Jackson -- Rousseau
Odenigbo -- Ford
Dean -- Blades
Langham -- Njoku
M. Smith -- Jennings
Knowles -- D. Smith
Perry -- Steed
McCray -- Joyner
Milo -- Hillery

CoRch Rix is in his 17th or 18th season.

How did Dabo do his previous 15 years coaching at a major D1 program?

That's a good point. Clemson is Dabo's 1st HC job so he had to do a bit of learning on the job but got it turned around. We have enough on Richt's coaching career to know that he is who he is.
