2014 RB Brandon Powell update

Agreed...and if true then I would assume we'd be recruiting him as a running back.

I have said before that I dont think it is between Powell and Berrios. I think its between Jojo and Berrios. I think Powells commitment would tell us all we need to know about Dalvin Cook and whether the staff feels confident they can flip him.

Powell stats last year 1,180 yds rushing,2ints,4kr tds and powell isn't replacement for cook will likely be a d'anthony thomas type will play rb,wr,kr he is only 5'8 170 and they probably won't take him and berrios. And in my opinion if the talent level is close between a local and oos prospect you take the local.

ok.. Choose one..

Berrios or Powell?

Even though I think i already know the answer[/QUOTE

I got to go with Powell never been a big fan of that berrios kid I think hes maxed out as far as a football player.. Powell is bigger faster strongerand he plays against better talent down here in south Florida...
you sure about that? Berrios posted a top 5 SPARQ score at the Opening. Don't think Powell is a better athlete than Berrios, but he's white, so I guess he's easily dismissed

I thought Berrios was spanish

Powell would be great pick up. Very versatile athlete, could play RB, slot or CB.

I think you guys are looking too much into who could be taking whose spot. If the staff really wants them, they will find a way to make it fit. They aren't going to pass on a kid they really like.

Agreed. Numbers will work themselves out like they do every year.

well considering some convincing had to be done for Berrios to get his offer, I don't think he's a kid they will find a way to fit in. People can argue all day that he never promised to commit on the spot but dude is playing a dangerous game imo and it's starting to rub me the wrong way. When you're an iffy kid and a coach is going to bat for you it's generally because they felt like you wouldn't be a problem. Nothing wrong with him wanting to explore his options but if someone else jumps on board while he's trying to figure things out, I won't shed a tear for him.

The staff has made it clear by their actions they don't intend to wait around even for the top kids. However, if a top kid wants in later on imo they'll make room for them. Berrios isn't a top kid. He's a talented kid with a limited skill set (he's a slot receiver nothing else). That's not a kid you run off another kid for in order to fit him in. Sorry to much talent at WR already on the roster and year in year out in sfl WR is a position that is always in surplus.

Some of you realize that you can be white and hispanic at that same time right? There are whites, mestizos, blacks ect. in Latin America. Puerto Rican or Cuban is a country/culture not a race. The kids white as ****

Thats kind of a twisted outlook man. The kid said his timeline is September from the get go. Its smart for a kid to take officials and make a decision. Why deprive a kid who recently started getting big offers the opportunity to make the best choice for himself? Anybody getting butthurt about that doesn't understand that this isn't a video game, its 17 year olds and their families trying to make decisions for their lives.

I never understood the whole "the staff will find a way to squeeze in whomever they want if everyone wants in" theory. Like this is MLBs salary cap or something. At some point, someobdy has to be left out in the cold. Golden has made it clear he doesnt want to run a ship like ALA or LSU. Where guys are **** near literaly on year to year scholies. So ALA can afford to bring in 35 guys every year because Saban cuts dead weight every offseason.

Case in point, I think Suttles getting a scholie depends on if Bond gets in. Most on here would say, F It! Make room for Suttles, Bond, AND Gilbert! Just find a way! Smh. Dont work like that. The magic number is 85. And from what I saw in anothr thread we are at 78-79 as of now and that doesnt even include Griffin and RStuckley whom you know will have a scholies waiting for them. Those two are the types of athletes that get you in the BCS title game.

So this theory that if somehow Powell, Cook, Jojo, Berrios, Dixon, AND Lane all want in we will somehow find room doesnt make sense. And thats not even including another DT which we sorely need. Or if Smothers wants in. Or Lammons. Or if we can flip Marques Gayot. And none of these scenarios is totally out of the realm of possiblity ATM. If we have some current recruits drop off thats another story. But alot of our class is from SoFla. These kids will be in each others ear to play together and stay the course. Maybe a guy like Herndon might waiver. But who really knws. JMO.
