2014 RB Brandon Powell update

Who gives a **** if he's short. There's a laundry list of short RBs that are in the Hall of Fame.

Heard we want him at CB, not sure how accurate that is....kid looks really good with the ball in his hands. Any camp 40 times for him?

I doubt that, he's so small but dangerous on offense I think we keep him on that side. Plus, if he wants to play offense I think he will ball out even more then ever this year to show out

Where'd you hear that? A UM corch, or the internet rumor mill?

I look at this dude, and I don't see CB at all. He looks like a Tayvon Austin type guy with the ball in his hands.

I remember thinking the same thing about Whitfield last year

Tayvon Austin part deaux! Kid has the goods. If he's a legit 5'9" 180 (right now!), I would like to see him start off at RB. He can EASILY add 10-15 lbs in a college weight room and training table without losing speed. That's almost a 200lb rb as a RS freshman or true soph.

From Scout, but usually Bakas is good about the information he puts out being legit.

* I continue hearing good news on the Brandon Powell front. At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, Powell is a RB/WR/DB prospect from Deerfield Beach High. He committed to Tennessee earlier this summer but then earned an offer following a strong camp performance here. The Canes sent him a written offer immediately on August 1 (the first day they could be sent), and I'm hearing that he's backing off his commitment to the Vols. Powell reminds me a lot of Dallas Crawford as a prospect. He's the state's top available running back, and he's from South Florida, so the Canes adding him to their class makes sense. It may not happen right away but I think it's only a matter of time.

"the first day they could be sent" That makes no sense? Cant they give offers at any time?

Non committable ones are basically nothing but the written ones are what matters. Its like when you get a college letter in the mail yourself that is the true definition of a offer because the actual school took its time out to send it out to you and say "we want you" not just a verbal offer

Terrible comparison to Dallas.

P.S. Backass isn't accurate.

His HS film reminds me a little of Kevin Grooms. He's a little smaller.

He reminds me off Roscoe Parrish. I'd love to see this guy in the slot, getting a couple of bubble screens and quick slants.

I thought of Kevin Williams and Roscoe as well. I think Powell has a frame for more weight then most give him credit for.

Pete predicted it first and tweeted that he wasn't going to talk about it because somebody else had it first so maybe he has insider info but I think Pete will break it
