2014 class size limit = 29

So just to summarize..

I guess we not taking more than 25 this year since 0 can be counted back to last year provided langham get in for fall semester



25 it is for 2015!

Realistically we can prolly take 20-22.

That's with Duke, Tracy and Flowers going pro and Olsen transferring.

They need King and O'Donnell to transfer so we can get a full class

Of these 21 kids above, 3 enrolled early (Ayles, Finnie and Pierre) so we had 18 apply to the 2011 class with 7 that could carry over.

2012

33 kids signed of which 1 never enrolled (Jean-Louis). [33-1=32]

Of these 32 kids, 9 enrolled early (Crow, Hope, Dewey, Flowers, Gabois, Gunter, Kirby, Hoilett and Witt) but only 7 could be counted towards 2011.

7 of the 32 kids applied to 2011. 25 kids applied toward 2012, so we had 0 scholarship carry over.

0 (Could be applied to 2012)

2013

20 kids signed of which 3 never enrolled (Griffin, Lockley and Bond). We added transfers David Gilbert (DE Wisc), Pat O'Donnell (Cinn P), Naim Mustafaa*** (DE OSU) and Justin Renfrow (DT UVA). [20-3+4=21]

Of these 21 kids, 5 enrolled early (Sandland, Dobard, Knighton, Figueroa and Odogwu ) but none counted towards 2012. We had 21 apply to the 2013 class with a carryover of 4.

My guess is we are at +4. Which means (ignoring sanctions) we could bring in 29 kids, 4 could apply to the 2013 class (if they enrolled early).

+4 (Could be applied to 2013)
+25 (Normal 2014 Max)
29 Ships Available****

*This is not definitive, just my best guess*
**Also, there may be some weird rule that involves graduate transfer and the placement of the scholarships**
***Mustafaa is an interesting thing to watch, if we enroll 30 and Mustafaa is not playing next year (talk to Ariz) then my guess is this ship may not have counted***

The limitation is on 'new counters.' I don't think all transfers necessarily count as new counters.
 
I am constantly amazed by how much run this issue gets, when no one has a clue what the coaches are using as metrics and WHICH HAS NEVER CAUSED US TO LOSE A KID WHO MATTERED.

This year we switch to the other limitation: total roster number. So attrition amongst current players will play a big role in determining class size, unlike last season. According to O´s chart ( http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/76262-O%92s-Eligibility-Chart-7-08-2014 ) we are at 80 with 13 seniors = 18. As we already have 20 commits and are hard after a lot of recruits, the staff obviously knows that there will be plenty of attrition and early draft entries. So the number will keep on rising.

Golden won't be left short handed... he is over recruiting then he will drop the more under whelming guys to the waste side. He is doing now what all the big boys do... the phone calls will come to the guys like Christian... im sorry but we are no longer recruiting you, you may reopen your recruiting.
 
We're not enrolling more than 25 because we don't have the room unless a ton of attrition.

Currently we have 12 Seniors on ship. +12

We're also sitting at 78 total scholarships going into the 2014 season. So if this stands we would be taking 7 of the 9 ships THIS YEAR. We need to take 1 in 2015 and 1 in 2016. We would get +6 back for the 2015 class.

IMO...Right now we have 18 available scholarships for the 2015 class before any early departures and/or transfers.

There will likely be 2-4 kids leave early for the draft and maybe 1-3 kids will transfer.

25 Would be the high number for 2015.

Usually under golden we have fielded a number way below that. That's why I never care about that 85 number. Kids will always transfer, quit, get arrested, etc.

It's the 25 + EE numbers that matter

If we end up at 78 then we can count 7 of our lost 9 scholarships this fall. This would mean the next 2 fall semester (2015 and 2016) we could go as high as 84.
That means we can add 6 players+14 (For this years seniors) + any Juniors leaving early for the draft + any players who decide to transfer. We just won't be able to go over a max of 84.
 
For us to go over 25 we need to have more players dropping off the roster before this fall semester . Maybe one or two at most might.
 
With the number of Gems he continue to take and his track record of getting them up to par this should be pretty easy to accomplish

Who was the clown that was arguing that you could enroll 28 under NCAA rules? Which was never the case in the history of the NCAA. Paranos?

Every year the topic is discussed. Every year things work out. Fans playing numbers chess with players and recruits ends up being negative toward the players and recruits which doesn't help the end results when parents and recruits read the board.

sad i missed this thread. ive followed these numbers & the rules governing them closely for a few years now. 29 was/is the correct number according to my counts(there is MAYBE a +1 there, im still trying to get 100% confirmation). but im fairly confident Heaps got us to our limit for 2014. the most we can ENROLL this year is 25 & i think we definitely do that. one simple question can reconcile everything and tell us for 100% certainty. and that is to find out how many of the EE's from the 2014 class were able to count towards 2013. the answer is either 4 or 5. once that is determined, you will know 100% our max class sizes now and going forward. im just not sure whether or not v. davis counted in 2012, and thats why its either 25/26 for 2015, or 29/30 for 2014.

BTW: when was the last time a whole recruiting class qualified and enrolled on time? I honestly can´t remember.
