The Canes women's team slammed the No. 22 Notre Dame team 6-1 on Sunday. Always good to see the Canes beat the Irish in any sport. The Canes are now 5-2 and will play Boston College on Friday.

Good news and bad news.

First the bad news. The new rankings came out today and the men's team finally fell out of the top 75. That's not the Top 25, that's the Top 75. Who knows when they'll be back. The women also took a hit sliding another three spots to No. 20 despite winning two duals last weekend. The ridiculous system they use for college tennis is a whole different story that take forever to explain. Simply put, it's stupid. But winning always takes care of stupid so the women's team should climb up again before the NCAAs.
The good news is that Stephanie Wagner was named the ACC Player of the Week for her four wins against Maryland and Notre Dame. The first Cane, man or woman, to win the award this year.

The men's team have a rare doubleheader on Tuesday against Presbyterian and Xavier at The Schiff on Tuesday.

Probably right around 8 or 9 where they started the season. The computer takes over the rankings after the ITA Indoors and it really plays havoc with the rankings but everything usually falls back into place by the end of the regular season.

Too many foreigners on the mens team. No heart.

Most teams these days have a lot of foreigners on the team. The "Americans" either go to schools that give them a full scholarship or end up in DII or DII. The only way for a school like Miami to compete is with foreigners. The only problem I've had with foreigners in the past is the guys who are in their mid-20s playing in the States for whatever reason. But the age limit has been put into effect from what I understand so there is no more of that.

The unranked Canes went into today's doubleheader needing to win both to have any chance of a .500 record today. They responded to that challenge by sweeping Presbyterian 4-0 in the morning and then sweeping Xavier in the afternoon. They are now at 6-3 and will start their ACC season at Clemson on Friday.

Two teams, two different results today. The men's team went up to Clemson today to fight the No. 23 Tigers. Omar Aly pulled a mild upset with his win in the No. 1 position, but the Canes (6-4) went down 6-1. They play Georgia Tech on Sunday in Atlanta. The womoen's team went up to Pittsburgh today and after struggling a bit with the singles, they won 6-1 to stretch their winning streak to five duals. The ladies (9-2) go to Raleigh to play N.C. State on Sunday.

The men’s team hosted No. 58 Wisconsin today and whooped up on some Badger as they easily took a 4-0 win for another win over a ranked opponent and move up to 10-4 for the season. Next weekend will be a challenge as No. 13 Wake Forest and No. 25 NC State come into town.

The roller coaster ride of an expatriate college tennis fan. It ain't easy and can be pretty frustrating. the situation in college tennis right now is downright horrible and unacceptable. If they kept the scoreboard updates for football/basketball, there would be mass uprisings and American would cease to exist as we know it.

When I played against North Florida, they had some 28 year old player coach, who was an avowed Satan worshipper, wearing skull earings, piercings and satanic logos on his shirt. Italian last name, I forget, but he played on the pro tour briefly.

I beat him like 7-6, Default, LOL! He went ape**** in the tiebreaker, was disqualified.

The Canes men's team grabbed a HUGE win today, knocking off No. 18 Wake Forest 4-3. Suddenly, they have a slight chance of making it to their 43rd NCAA tournament appearance. The women's team also knocked off Syracuse 7-0 today to keep their winning streak going as well. Great day for Canes tennis!

The men's team are suddenly winning, knocking off their fourth ranked team of the season, beating NC State on Sunday. They fell behind 0-3 and incredibly won the last four matches to take the dual match 4-3. The NCAA tournament is suddenly within reach. They still have some work to do but it's possible now.
The women also continue winning, extending their win streak to 10 by beating Wake Forest on Sunday. They now will face ACC rivals No. 1 Duke and No. 10 North Carolina at the beginning of April.
