20-4 last two seasons context

I just wanted to contextualize the last 2 seasons and how impressive this program has been. Obviously this isn't all apples to apples because of the schedules, and we know the ACC isn't great, but I don't care where or who you play, winning 10 games in the present day college football is a very, very good season. And doing it back to back years is exceptional.

I wanted to look at the last 2 regular seasons and see who was definitively better than Miami. Remember, we're now 20-4 in the last 2 regular seasons. This doesn't account for conference championship games, bowl games, playoffs, etc...just Miami compared to everyone else over the past 24 regular season games (2 years).

Here are the list of teams who have a better record than Miami in the regular season since the beginning of 2024:

Oregon 23-1
Indiana 23-1
Ohio State 22-2
Georgia 21-3
Notre Dame 21-3
BYU 21-3

End of list.

SIX teams have a better record than us the last 2 years. In the entire country. There are kids ON THIS ROSTER who got absolutely boat-raced, at home, by Middle Tennessee State. And it wasn't a fluke. They beat the **** out of us. We lost 45-3 on our home field to FSU. We gave up 45 points, at home, to Duke. We got beat at Clemson 40-10, and the game wasn't even remotely that close....we ended the game with 98 (!!!) total yards of offense, we had as many penalties (6) as we did first downs. At halftime, we had eight (8) yards of offense. In a half of football. Eight. Yards.

That was some dark, dark ****. So, before we embark on going to Weirdoville and smacking the overrated Aggies around, I just wanted to stop and smell one hint of one rose for a minute. The last 2 years, for the vast majority of them, have been fun as ****. We had some bumps, for sure, but only 6 teams in the whole **** world had less than we did.

Last laugh -- We have won more games by 20+ points in the past 2 years (13) than either FSU or UiF have won, TOTAL. FSU has 7 wins the last 2 years. UiF has 11.

Let's go get another one next Saturday with the whole world watching.

Go Canes.

I was extremely critical of Mario especially after the SMU game. Let my emotions get the best of me, even called for the banners to fly.

I would be a fool to think that if Mario didn’t come here, we would be in this great situation with a program projected to be an annual playoff power.

He may be a Caveman, but he’s our Caveman. He also may have discovered fire (running outside the A gap). Hopefully he keeps evolving, it will only help us as a program.

It's unlikely, but I would love to absolutely dominate A&M on both LOS and win by at least 2 TDs...

Just dominate the game.

We'd go from underdogs to maybe CFP title favorites.

We already have the best game in the 1st round. And the game with OSU will probably be the best game of the quarterfinals too.

Life sure feels different when the committee does the right thing and puts you in the playoffs

It was ACCCG/playoff or bust this year

Would have felt like the most Miami thing ever to beat ND/UiF/FSU in the same year and get left out of the playoffs by one spot for a team we straight up beat

I hated the excuses about the “rebuild” but it doesn’t matter anymore. My biggest hope about Mario and the current admin was that whatever his plan was, he was going to be given the chance to actually implement it and see it through

**** Texas A&M

(Also great point that we can enjoy UiF/FSU disasters properly now)

Wow, that's pretty impressive didn't know that. Imagine if we coulda figured out a few of those losses, but hopefully they turn out to be just painful learning points.

Mario has his flaws but the more I look at it with all these moves in cfb, he's the best one for the job IMHO. This playoff run is even more special now. Regardless, we've come a long ways, and I'm here for the mf'in ride!!

Most importantly, FUCC aTm (*** to mouth)!!!

I appreciate that you stayed optimistic throughout. Manny dismantled the program. Other than an NFL-talented DB room that vastly underplayed to their potential, that 2022 team was so deplete of talent, so incredibly inept, so dependent on a psychologically broken QB it was agonizing to watch.

Mario has his flaws. But he did what he promised to do -- build the program from the inside out so it is deep in high-quality talent across players and coaches. Juggernaut just getting started.

It all comes down to this. Is he bought into his own preaching? Because he constantly talks about how they have to reevaluate and self-critique every aspect of their game on a continual basis. As long as he walks the talk, we're good.

Lets be honest, Mario has a career in politics if the coaching thing goes south.

The man can speak.

We would not be considered favorites after a win over A&M..regardless of the score. But a win over Ohio State, may swing the lines.

It just again proves that the G5 needs it own playoff system.
The committee was created so that a deserving G5 team that steamrolls its schedule could be included by people that supposedly watch the games

So when you make it mandatory and you got a couple teams that didn’t even go undefeated then it just looks terrible

Looking forward to whatever overreaction rule changes they make that won’t apply next year

Somewhere there is a chart showing Mario evolving, and eventually walking upright. I can tell my grandkids that I was there when he was still grunting and rubbing sticks together.

Well first of all, the Committee doesn’t watch the games. They watch highlight packages that ESPN creates for them (which you obviously know, but I constantly repeat this because more people need to know!).

But are you saying you think the G5 inclusion the way it now is fine, and shouldn’t change? I’m not sure I understand if you are for or against the current system…

Kirby Smart plays the same brand of football as Mario. In some respects can be even more conservative. See GT game this year. I wonder if Georgia fans call him caveman?
