Manny was 10-8 through his first 18 games… Mario has been an $80 million downgrade.
bro you need 4 years to be good. I mean Washington proved it right? oh wait. they turned it around OVERNIGHT thanks to good coaching.Wanted to start off by saying I’m keeping recruiting out of this rant, and will have a separate thread later (longer, more emotional rant).
Let’s get some really sobering numbers out of the way. Through 18 games, Mario is:
- 9-9 overall
- 3-7 in the vaunted ACC
- 0-5 at home against ACC opponents
- 1-4 against ranked opponents
- Oversaw of the single-most embarrassing play in not only Miami’s history, but arguably all of college football
Certainly not 80 million dollars worth of results right there, but I’ll save that for the good part in the recruiting thread.
What I saw tonight was the same product I’ve seen for twenty years. In the first half, I felt like we should have been up 10…and then we got our *** absolutely blasted in the second half. UNC had 14 penalties for 147 yards, and we still lost by two scores. The refs will never call a better game for us.
If Mario Cristobal finds a way to win seven or fewer games this year, his seat would be warm at any school that game a **** about athletics. Especially now that Year 2 counterparts Venebles and Napier are experiencing varying levels of momentum in Year 2 (yeah guess what, Napier is 5-2 and has two more conference wins in 2023 than Mario has). Lose to UF to begin 2024, and I’d venture to say his seat would be hot.
But - it won’t happen. We’re stuck with Saint Cristobal for 5 years minimum. I’m not sure where to go after this performance, as I can easily see the team folding and losing five or six to close out another underachieving year. The hype was just that - again. And most of us fell for it.
Mario isnt a good coach though. hes a recruiter. he wont out coach anyone. **** try to out talent his opponentThe most embrassing loss in the history of CFB was App state being d2 upsetting Mich.
I’m pretty sure A&M was ranked.
The numbers are humbling but I see improvement in some key areas.
It’d be nice to have an instant turnaround coach but we just aren’t there.
Who’s job is to find these playmakers? They need playmakers. They don't have them. On offense we have, at best, good players.
lol he turned over half this ******* roster. get out of here w that. hes also choosing to play the guys hes playing. We BARELY even look at a tight end in this offense. theyre not even used or utilized for anything other than blocking. Bain is good.Recruiting has ALOT to do with this. His guys are young and green. The guys we are cursing, he inherited. I’m excited for Anez, Mauignoa, Wes, Bain, CJ, Riley. These guys are going to be stars.
Gattis was Mario’s pick. That and Mario’s bro-style history scared QBs but this is on Mario. Hopefully Dawson changes that. Not necessarily. I don’t know who you believe were legit qb options to come to Miami.
were not even running what we should be running tbh. its a marriage of two coaches who dont see eye to eye philosophically but are trying to appease each otherGattis was Mario’s pick. That and Mario’s bro-style history scared QBs but this is on Mario. Hopefully Dawson changes that.
QBs don’t flock to him. His qb recruit for 24 is Judd and in 23 he got a 3 star in Emory - who may end up ok but we’re not getting top 10-15 types here.Exactly who did he “destroy”?? Jake garcia at mizzo who’s probably 3rd string? TVD who got hurt behind a terrible oline with 2 transfers who don’t start at their new stop? Had he “destroyed” TVD this year..as a fanbase we are hungry but we gotta face the reality of where exactly we are roster wise in this tenure..we don’t have the roster to overcome goaline fumbles, snaps gone array and INTs on the road against a legitimate top 15 team..the vision for this roster is not complete..anddd we should’ve taken a knee vs tech
I don’t even know what they’re doing. How in the world does Dawson not use those TEs to spread the field out?were not even running what we should be running tbh. its a marriage of two coaches who dont see eye to eye philosophically but are trying to appease each other
well the one poster who's spoken w Dawson said he had plans to use TEs when he took the job. we haven't seen it since the season started.I don’t even know what they’re doing. How in the world does Dawson not use those TEs to spread the field out?
Because he’s being made to or told to use the TE like an extra OL.
I remember Michigan/Harbaugh punting and the guy dropping it and Mich St scooping and scoring on the last play of the game. That was pretty bad too since he could have had the QB snap it, run around, and throw out of bounds .... but I get your sentiment. It’s not a loss, it’s a play. I don’t think there’s an example in history of a team doing what he did against GT. It’s all part of a continuous cycle of poor decision-making and a lack of feel. He’s so wound up that it affects everyone around him.
no the **** we dont. a fumble, a snap of the ball and a bad int has nothing to with coaching. Those 3 plays, turnovers we back breakers. With everything that happened, without the Parrish fumble we are driving to tie the score at the end or win with a TD, literally.Swap coaches and we win
we were down 3 scores in the fourth. scored two garbage time TDs to make the score look better.no the **** we dont. a fumble, a snap of the ball and a bad int has nothing to with coaching. the whole game plays out differently if he doesnt fumble at the 1/2 yard line. We wouldnt have been down 3 scores if he didnt fumble genius.we were down 3 scores in the fourth. scored two garbage time TDs to make the score look better.
and if UNC didnt get flagged 14000 times thanks to a finally pro miami whistle, they probably are up by more than 3 scores .the whole game plays out differently if he doesnt fumble at the 1/2 yard line. We wouldnt have been down 3 scores if he didnt fumble genius.
they actually committed those penalties. Every one was legit. It couldnt believe they actually called them. The Parrish fumble was the turning point in the game. We go into half leading by 10, not 3. Everything from playcalling to how 18-23 year olds play change as the lead for one team grows or shrinks.and if UNC didnt get flagged 14000 times thanks to a finally pro miami whistle, they probably are up by more than 3 scores .
Terrible ending yup, but ours is worse because the game was over. There was nothing Georgia Tech could do to change the outcome of the game. At least Michigan still had to get off a punt and potentially defend a return, all Miami had to do was snap a ball and fall down.I remember Michigan/Harbaugh punting and the guy dropping it and Mich St scooping and scoring on the last play of the game. That was pretty bad too since he could have had the QB snap it, run around, and throw out of bounds .... but I get your sentiment.
