12 and Climbing ....

Just win…we do this to ourselves…smh
Our hope is that the Miami vs ND discussion convinces the committee

Miami is toast. Doesn’t even matter if they beat Pitt.

I hope for the team and program they beat Pitt and finish with back to back 10-2 seasons as it continues to build the program but the playoffs aren’t happening.
If we win, and ONE SEC team in front of us loses (OU -10.5, Bama -6.5 , Ole Miss -7.5) we'll get in.

We'll jump to 11 over BYU this weekend with another ranked win over Pitt.

But we need help to get up to 10.

I think the committee is making it clear they will not put us in over ND, but I think they're also making it clear they will put us in if we take care of business against Pitt and other outcomes go our way. It's insane given our H2H win over ND, but this is where we're at.

We need either LSU (Oklahoma), Miss St (Ole Miss), or Auburn (Bama) to pull an upset this week and we probably get the at-large spot out right before the conference championship games. Stanford keeping it close (or winning) against ND would also benefit us. Absent one of those outcomes, we'll need help in conference championship week.

The committee is probably expecting/praying that BYU loses to TT in the rematch, and Bama loses in the SEC Championship. In this scenario, BYU and Bama are out with no need for the committee to conduct a controversial comparison between us and ND in which ND somehow still gets in. A 3 loss Bama will not get in over a 2 loss Miami. They'd be the only 3 loss team in the field and the committee already proved last year they're willing to leave Bama out. A 2 loss BYU will most likely not get in over a 2 loss Miami since they would have just played a de facto playoff game against TT and lost. This scenario is the scenario I think the committee wants because it allows both us and ND to make the playoff (although really I think they just want us to lose to Pitt so they don't have to worry about it).

If none of these scenarios play out for us, the committee will be forced to decide between us, ND, (and assuming BYU/Bama win their conference) the losers of the B12/SEC championship game in the final rankings. Definitely not a scenario where I see them selecting us (ND may even be in trouble too). Should only one of Bama/BYU win their conference, then the committee would select between us, ND, and the other losing team. Either way we probably are first out.
This is the post that is likely true, and makes the most sense.

We didn’t get any upsets last weekend, but I just can’t imagine we go the last two weeks of the regular season without a single big upset. It’s basically a given every year.

We're not climbing ****. We're in the same group as ND and they are 3 spots ahead of us.

BYU will lose the Big 12 title game. Alabama still has Auburn and a rematch with Georgia for an SEC title. Vanderbilt is at Tennessee to end their attempt to climb. Lots of ball left to be played.

Miami #12

I tried to tell people that we would/could/should jump Utah.

But there were a bunch of scurred babies who kept trying to scare us with the fear of Vanderbilt jumping back over us again.

Not happenin' cap'n.

We need an SEC team to lose, and we need Texas Tech to beat BYU in the conference championship.

Two weeks to move up two spots.

I posted the same thing after Saturday . Utah was a loss even though it counted as a win . No defending that ****. 500 yards rushing to a 5-6 team is pathetic . But I do get people being skeptical of the committee.

Terrible idea if you did that this year as an example and replaced it with plain UCF you would’ve lowered your strength of schedule strength of record FPI in like four other metrics so yes you’re getting screwed on the head to head but replacing it with a cupcake or even a lower power for you wouldn’t even be 12

You’re not seeing what is happening. These games can only hurt you. They put in who they want in and no one else. The only way in for an ACC team to get in is to be ranked and to win the ACC.

Also NDs entire setup is BS and a huge advantage. They make their own schedule and only one or two teams actually care about the game.

The CFP needs to understand that their human bias BS is hurting football. Get rid of these huge out of conference games and it will hit everyone where it counts $…

Miami has very little recourse. I remember FSU saying they were suing and got politicians involved and it was laughed at. People don’t laugh at losing money.

The angst this program has elicited amongst its fan base is unfnckingbelievable…I know, it means we care, but still…
I thinks it's more frustration than angst. Frustrated with conservative Mario. Frustrated that there's never someone at ESPN that doesn't have an ax to grind against Miami. Does anyone with a microphone that has a legit platform speak up for Miami? I'm talking about someone in the ESPN studio that actually can push back on the Galloways of the world.

All of us should be excited right now because we’re not limited to just one way of getting in. There’s actually quite a few scenarios that could lead to us getting in, longshots as they may be. Obviously, the ACC Championship seems like the biggest stretch because of who the 3 teams we need to lose are playing(SMU plays Cal, Virginia plays VT, and Duke plays Wake). Right now, it seems like 100% of everyone’s focus is on Miami vs. Notre Dame but we have other options, so to speak.

1.)For instance, what if Ole Miss loses to Miss. St. and immediately after the game Lane announces he’s leaving? Right now, they’re ranked #7 in the CFP and there’s been rumblings out there the last few days that the committee could possibly leave them out.

2.)What if Oklahoma loses to LSU? OU is currently ranked #8 and a third loss would all but guarantee they’d be eliminated from playoff contention.

3.)What if Bama loses to Auburn OR beats Auburn and then turns around and loses in the SEC Championship game? Granted, it would be hard to envision them leaving BAMA out of the playoff after finishing as the SEC runner up, but who knows.

My overall point is this: Everyone keeps focusing on this Miami-ND matchup, and rightfully so, but there’s more scenarios out there for us than one might think. We have options.
I used bet MGM lines and if you run all of the various scenarios, which basically now are any of the ACC scenarios in any scenario where two teams ahead of us that would likely fall out up to An including Oregon as a possibility were to lose in Miami win this week and a scenario where they factor in BYU losing a championship game and they decide to move them out despite the SMU rule even if BYU were number 10 the combined odds of one of all of the possibilities happening is in the 40% or so range

None of this matters if our Canes don’t beat Pitt this Saturday. Let’s start by kicking some ***, and then let the chips fall where they may. We all know that the hate for our Canes is real.

Yea when they talked about it last week i wasn't worried, only about our team actually closing and winning the last two. Thats the only worry I have is Pitt and we are in

We were agreeing here in real-time. That was clear as day. We've cleared the Utah hurdle, as expected. Need to clear AT LEAST one more, and then hope BYU gets dinged in Dallas.

Oh, and hope Vandy doesn't crush Tennessee or Meechigan doesn't upset Taint.

Real cool spot to be in.

Just beat Pitt by 3 scores.
