The only team we have (and know of) with a pulse on the OOC schedule is @ Minnesota, don't cha know. Dlck Pitino took them to the NCAAT last season and they're pretty good this year. They didn't lose anyone of real relevance from last year's squad either. They're 7-0 (0-0) and their average victory is by 19.4 PPG. They do a great job of getting points down low and controlling the paint.

Who did they beat/play:

SC Upstate 3-5
@ Providence 5-1
Niagara 3-4
Western Carolina 2-5
Alabama A&M 0-6
UMass 3-3 [Neutral Site]
Alabama 5-1 [Neutral Site]

The win at Providence was pretty good as Providence made the NCAAT 4 straight times.

Who to watch:

Jordan Murphy: 22.0 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.3 SPG and 1.4 BPG [Tremendous Stat Line]
Nate Mason: 13.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 4.1 APG and 1.1 SPG
Amir Coffey: 12.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.9 APG
Reggie Lynch: 11.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.0 SPG and 4.4 BPG

Random Tidbits:

- Murphy has had a double-double in every game this season.
- Last year we shot .356 (3PT) and .718 (FT). This year we're shooting .343 (3PT) and .573 (FT).
- Minnesota is 18th in scoring with 90.7 PPG.

Minnesota...

There's really nothing golden about a gopher. Technically referred to as the pocket gopher, these burrowing rodents create tunnels for protection and food storage, often residing, rather uninvitedly, in household gardens and on farms.

Minnesota is coached by Richard (don't call me Rick) Pitino. Pitino's son (who looks more like a clone than a son) actually did a pit stop at FIU as a coach for a year.

The Gophers pretty much return the entire contributing squad from last year's 2016 team. Any stater on the team can put up double figures and when you toss in 6th man freshman top 100 G and rapidly Instagram followed, Isaiah Washington, you have a team that will have no problems scoring (91 ppg this year and 75 ppg last year).

SR PF Jordan Murphy is off to a fast start, but PG Nate Mason concerns me most. First team All Big Ten last year, Mason can shoot the 3, score off the dribble and is a skilled ball handler. Oh, and he shoots decently enough (80%) from the FT line.

Rebounding will be of key concern as the duo of bigs Murphy and rejection specialist (3.5 blocks per game last year) and 2016 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, C Reggie Lynch, definitely have the potential to limit us on the glass.

As a team, Minnesota shoots well enough from the line, considering we have been awful this year, so that's something to watch as well.

This game is going to be tough. If the D shows up, we can get the foul prone Lynch into trouble, and we don't get overwhelmed on the glass (read: second chance points) we have a good shot.

Should Mason be allowed to control the game and Minnesota shoots well, it could be a long night. But hey, Minnesota almost lost to three man Alabama this year.

Did you guys see any of the Minnesota vs Alabama game? Alabama had to play with 3 players for the last 10 mins of the second half because half of their team was ejected for coming onto the floor to try to fight, and another fouled out and the last got hurt. Bama almost came back too.

Fiasco starts at the 11:21 mark in the video with 13:43 left to play

I think BB is going to play well tonight. Just a hunch.

Also wonder if we'll see more of Huell and Izundu on the court at the same time.

We could potentially play USC in the Diamond head Classic. They are rated #14 right now.

Minnesota hasn't beaten any team that we wouldn't crushed except Alabama and we'd beat them too. We are going to Minnesota though so I expect to be in for a tough night.

Canes win anyway!

I think they will start Amp on Murphy and if that fails, they will play a lot of Huell and Izundu.

I'll be at the game tonight at the barn. 1st college basketball game for me. I should be easy to spot because I will be orange and black next to my gophers buddies! Supposedly close to center court tickets about 10 rows up. Go Canes!

Bad match ups tonight. We are highly ranked but odds makers have minn. favorite. They initially make spreads by simulating game in computer. Evidentially information spit out of computer revealed that minn. has a good opportunity to win game. Blah blah blah

This is casually amazing. And they almost lost. Sort of raises the stakes.

If the Bruce Brown from the Carolina and Duke games last year shows up, I think we win. Otherwise, I don't think we have enough offensive firepower to win against a strong opponent on the road until Lonnie and the rotation are more settled.

Center court row 24 between the player benches. Judging by the pregame bars I’ll be the only Cane here!
