I think it's the 13 years that followed the national championship that are problematic. It would be myopic to bring Butch back for a 4 - 5 year run only to turn the program back over to Coker/Shannon/Golden2.0.

Jimbo is the one and only time coach in waiting has worked that I can think of. So not a very good track record to say the least.

Jizzbo worked because he was the ACTUAL HC at FSU while Bowden was up in the tower sleeping. Bowden was only HC in name like Fake is AD in name here.

When Miami has been Miami the longest tenured coach has been for 6 years. A coach has failed at Miami if they haven't won a championship and moved to the NFL... Obviously the situation would be different for Butch but I'll say he would coach 5-6 more years

There isn't some conspiracy here. This board is overwhelmingly, vehemently opposed to Cristobal no matter what he's supposedly promising to high school coaches. The recent poll that had 97% against Cristobal being our next coach said it all.

There are many wanting this admin to reach out to the Chip/Patterson/Gundy/Mullen types while conducting a thorough search that involves guys like Herman, Fuente, Butch, etc. But this board isn't splitting into Mario vs. Butch factions. This board is unanimously opposed to Mario.
