10th coaching assistant

Aside from the recruiting prowess of Dugans, the resume and offensive minds of the rest of our Offensive staff is below average for a top 10 team. I really hope we bring in another guy on offense with a solid resume.

I'm not 100% on Searles yet. Trying to determine if the **** poor run blocking was talent or coaching

Brown is a very good RB coach, calling him below average make you a troll.

And it really doesn't matter what Hartley does. He did a good developing Njoku/Herndon and just brought in 2 studs. Because he doesn't look like a FB coach, CIS trolls like you will never respect him

Problem with brown is his title is oc, if he was just rb coach everyone would agree but most would also agree he he might not bring as much upside when u take into account oc title

Besides Richt throwing Hartley a bone at Georgia his resume is average at best.

Brown as an OC
Hartley as TE coach
Richt Jr as QB coach

Look at their resumes and tell me they deserve to be at Miami if Richt isn't the coach. Enough said

Meh. I don't give him too much credit on Njoku/Herndon. Most any coach would look good there. I do judge our ST which requires more ADT. Not a good look. Obviously he is a good recruiter & that's the only reason I can see how he has this job. Him looking creepy is besides the point. That's just being observant.

Would you rather he work with DT's?

Could easily coach specials

He has never coached special teams.

you’re right. my mistake. lets get demarcus van dyke.

If you're going for a DB coach might as well hire Surtain. Could move Banda to an off field role.

We need a real Safety coach...not a CB coach. Ed Reed would be fantastic.

Ed as a ST teams coach, where he could also help w the D as needed and mentor Banda. As a ST ciach, May alleviate the recruiting grind which I assume would be a hurdle. Have him help recruit select targets.

I don’t understand why Richt wouldn’t have his 10th guy in place and ready to hit the trail tomorrow. All hands on deck right now and we’d be a man down compared to some of these schools we’re head to head with for recruits.

Agreed you had multiple weeks to get this situated, it should have been done or in the works. Not waiting until the new rule went into effect which I don’t think we are doing but it sure does seems like it

I say go take Kevin Patrick from nc st let him coach ends and kool have dts also would give him help on the recruiting front

Makes entirely too much sense.

Helfrich just got hired by the Bears. There goes that pipedream.

Agree. However, it could be that they coach they're targeting could still coaching in the NFL playoffs - I'm thinking specifically of Mike Mallory as one poster mentioned a couple months ago.

Most of the 10th coaches being added have been on the Defensive side of the ball due to the fact most staffs have 5 & sometimes 6 coaches on the Offensive side already.

Oh St hired Alex Grinch a former DC at Wash St, Clemson hired Lemanski Hall a former NFL LB that was a Defensive analysts with them for 3 years & Bama hired a former DC from UTEP/Southern Miss.

The only offensive coach I've seen being rumored as a 10th coach is Helfrich to Texas, there could be more though because the rule starts 1/9 and a lot schools will be making hires this week.

One thing common across D1 is almost all programs are hiring coaches with legit experience on whichever side of the ball they'll being hired for. Which makes sense. These hires seem more so geared towards actually having assistants with coaching & not just glitzy crootin guys.

Richt could go in multiple directions with this his pick, I like the idea of adding DVD as quality control he did well at ASA JUCO & is a guy that could be a legit DB coach after a few years experience as a QC/analyst.

Imo we need another's pair of eyes up in the booth on Offense, but I doubt Richt hires another Offensive assistant. Really interested to see who he hires though, because this staff could use some valuable experience at that 10th spot.
To add on^ , so Texas just signed Herb Hand as a Co-OC & OL Coach, he's a long time OL Coach who was at Auburn, Penn St & West Va before, long time tenured coach.

Penn St also hired David Corley to be RB's, he was WR's coach at Army & before that was RB's coach at UCONN for 3 years.

So, that's 2 offensive assistants that have been added to staffs, most of the 10th coach adds have been on the Defensive side of the ball though.

But, my original point still stands, basically every one of these 10th coaches were guys with legit experience elsewhere & none have been glitzy crootin' adds.

Teams are using this 10th spot to actually help with Coaching, that's exactly what we need. Everyone wants to cry about recruiting, but X's & O's on both sides of the ball are more important imo & we really need help in those areas.

Idk what's taking Richt so long, but I truly hope he does his due dilligence & adds someone with experience & not just elevate a QC guy. Our staff is too green as is, we need some dudes who've done it before & can bring their own wisdom to the practice field/meeting rooms.

Why are we so weird? Hire a great offensive mind & we win nat’l titles. Very very simple. With the amount of TO’s we force we’ll be ******* KILLING teams if we get it together on that side.

With all do respect Cane6 did Al Golden and Dorito deserve to be at the U? Our staff now is head and shoulders better than what we have had in over a decade. We are trending in the right direction and we will see the results of what our program is starting to evolve into next year. Id rather have young energetic coaches that care about the kids, program and University than to have old coaches past their prime getting by on their name just to cash checks.
