10th coach suggestions

John Lily is another name that comes to mind.

That would make the most sense. Let him coach TE, help with offense & recruit his butt off. Ideally Hartley needs to be nudged out & replaced with a competent ST coach.

I’ve been on board with this since 12/3/15. Get Lilly here. Watch how we cherry pick GA/National kids.

Doubt we would be able to pull him from Stanford, but Pete Alamar would be a good Coach if we're really just looking for a ST guy that specializes in Special Teams.

And probably won't happen either, but a name some of yall Phins fans might be familiar with Jim Turner lol.

He's done a great job recruiting 4/5-star OL's at TAMU & if Sumlin is getting fired maybe we could snag him if interested.

Dan Morgan as the ST coordinator and assistant LB’s coach...if we can pull him away from the Seahawks.

I'd never oppose something like that but Morgan is on an accelerated path to be a GM in the NFL.

Haha. Turner would be an A+ hire. I believe he has some special teams coaching experience too.

Sumlin was fired, so perhaps Turner would be available.

I recall Richt trying to lure Lily to Miami, but Lily wasn’t interested. Could have been message board chatter.

We need a guy with a lot of spread O experience.

Richt, Searles, Brown, and Hartley all have prostyle backgrounds.

If we're recruiting dual threat guys and trying to transition to more of a spread look, then bring in a spread guy.

Ed Reed has little to no experience. What's the obsession w hiring former players who have no experience coaching?

If we're looking for a Special Teams coach...

1. Shawn Slocum (currently on the fired Arizona State staff). Experience coach special teams in the NFL and also coaches LBs.

2.Bradley Dale Peveto (Ole Miss special teams and OLB)

Of course, all of this is fun speculation.
I suspect Richt will wait to see who stays on his staff before making that 10th hire unless, of course, he already has
someone in mind.

Alot of fans see our former greats giving some great pre-game pep talks and they think they are a qualified and/or interested
in becoming a college football coach.

This coachincarousel is going to be crazy. Lots of high profile coaches putting together their staffs. Richt will definitely have a huge pool to choose from.

Slocum is a **** of a coach.

Ed Reed coached for the Bills with Rex Ryan & did more than just give a pre-game prep talk, he helped out a lot for Notre Dame during the week. He was actually in on team meetings, watched film with the DB's & was at practice the whole week.

He's said on 2 separate occasions this year that he would be interested if Coach Richt needed him.

Good stuff and those are valid points.
He sounds like one of the few realistic candidates of former Canes players and he could be a good one if
he wants to put in the time.
I mean, one of his former teammates on the Ravens is already a DC for his alma-mater, Wisconsin.
Reed has alot of good choices going forward in life whether it be at the UM or even in Baltimore where he is
regarded as one of their football gods.
The key is whether he is up to working 60-80 hours per week when he really doesn't need to.
He may well end up in UM and maybe not even as the 10th coach, depending on what happens with
the current staff.

I agree, the grind of a position Coach in college is a lot of work.

I've mentioned 8 other Coaches in this thread alone lol, I liked your picks as well.

At this point, we're all just spitballing, Richt even said last week in a post practice presser he's not sure if any of the current coaches are going to go elsewhere so he doesn't really know who he's going with as the 10th coach.

College football is so fluid these days, especially with the coaching carousel and, as we are seeing, lots of big-time programs
looking for coaches....so here comes the "Domino effect".
It will be interesting to see if MissState goes after Manny.

Again?? That'd be hilarious if Manny worked for MSU three times on three separate occasions.

Either way all of our coaches should expect a pay raise immediately after the bowl game.

Vernon Hargreaves gets a vote for me. Has experience coaching linebackers and special teams. Was our lb coach from 1998-2005.
