These people are worse than our haters with this Maribro ball stuff. Especially after what we all just watched, you'd think this would all be dead. But no, even our own fans are incapable of thinking we're not running the wishbone this year.

Even in 2022 early in the year with absolutely zero line and Gatass we threw the ball plenty. We threw the ball 46 times in a game against VT where we were winning 20-0 after the 3rd quarter. It was 17-0 at the half, on the road, and we came out and threw the ball on the first play of the 3rd quarter.

Yes, Mario loves his offensive line. Yes, he enjoys physically beating the **** out of people. What coach doesn't? But he's not telling Carson Beck and Shannon Dawson to run the ball 65% of the time. There's literal years of data pointing to the contrary now, with the same staff, and some of that was even with a QB MILES less talented and experienced than Beck.

The WRs and TEs better be ready to catch the football. Because it's going to be thrown to them. A lot.

That’s just you ****ting all over the whole idea behind recruiting.

Kid is a top 5 national recruit, sure he’s going to raise his value by visiting other schools, it doesn’t change the fact that you shoot your shot. Until someone says I’m shutting it down and stops answering your messages you stay on them, that’s the game.

Carson Beck is one of the best passers in America. He didn't come here to have two 1,000 yard backs, and that's not Shannon Dawson's bag.

In 2023, with a broken TVD and a true-freshman project QB, we threw the ball 33.5 times a game, good for 39th in the country.

Insert Cam Ward, that number goes to 37.6 per game, 14th most in America.

I think this year will fall somewhere in the middle, likely closer to 2024 than 2023. It's somewhat dependent on how the pass-catchers develop, but Beck is a veteran player with a great command of the game. He didn't come here, and we didn't bring him here, to be Emory Williams or Jacurri Brown.

And remember, in 2022 with Houston, Dawson threw the ball 38.5 times a game.

We'll run the ball, but Beck is going to be PLENTY busy.

That would be a risky bet...Cam threw the ball 450 times last year... I am willing to bet Beck doesnt throw that ball 450 times this year.

Also, We had over 2000 yards combined rushing last year. Martinez had 1000 and Fletcher had 600 and Lyle had 400...it is not far fetched to think Fletch can get 400 more yards with 50 more carries and Lyle getting 50 more carries to get to 1000. Lyle is a HR back so its not like he can't do it.

Of course its my opinion because to ask a guy coming off that arm injury to chuck it 500 times is a little crazy when you have 2 RBs like we do and inexperienced WR group.

We’ve had a lot of (legit) back and forth debate about PFF grades and OL but IIRC our OL grades are better in pass blocking than run blocking across the board as well. I could be wrong there.

Whatever the thoughts are on Dawson the guy comes into games prepared and he’s shown he can dial up points in a lot of different ways

We basically had the same cast of characters under Gattis and him and we jumped what like 100 spots on offense? I guess it was because Cam Ward was telling him what to call from Washington

I literally never said he was going to throw the ball as much as Cam. I said we'll likely project somewhere between 2023 and 2024.

You're also not quite understanding how numbers work. We had the numbers that we had last year because we had a historic yards per play output. The best in the history of the school. #1 in the country, by a considerable margin.

Miami finished the season at 7.56 yards per play. That's the 4th best number of any program in the past 4 seasons. Thus, that number is VERY likely to regress. Doesn't mean the offense will suck, doesn't mean the team won't win. But no analyst on the planet would project Miami for 7.56 yards per play again this season. So we're likely to have less total yards, because our tempo is likely to remain the same. Dawson is still here.

Let's say the YPP number drops by a full yard, to 6.56. Seems awful, right? Well 6.56 YPP would have still ranked 7th in the entire country last season. So now you see how prolific the offense was? We ran 851 plays....if you say we'll be 1 yard less efficient this year, that's 851 total yards less than last year. So you can't just slide this year's players in for last year's numbers, it's almost certainly not going to shake out like that.

All this to say, we're not going to be a running team. People need to forget that ****. Carson Beck is, by anyone's metrics, one of the 10 best QBs in the country. He didn't come here and we didn't bring him here to have him throw the ball 27 times a game.

It’s like they went out and got the best quarterback available to only run the ball. People sometimes just wanna die on some hill for whatever reason.
Mario played under JJ and Erickson.
Don’t remember neither of those dudes being 75% run lol. Especially Erickson. He’s literally never done it in his entire career as coach.

Yup. I said this before but if we spent 4 mill on a QB to hand the ball off and be a “game manager” then we are horrifying at managing money
 
Dawson offenses consistently in top 25 in pass attempts per game. He’s only been out of the top 50 once (UK in 2015). It’s a big part of his offense. We will throw the ball, at minimum, 30 times per game with him.

If people here think Mario is a caveman, they should look into a guy named Mark Stoops.

125th in the country in pass attempts per game in 2019
121st in 2020
96th in 2021
110th in 2022
87th in 2023
113th in 2024

And that's with how many OC's? One being Liam Coen, a **** McVay disciple. Anyone see a pattern here?

Shannon Dawson doesn't jive with that bull**** above.

Having two 1000 yard RBs doesn't make you a running team. It makes you balanced. We had about 2300 yards rushing last year and 4500 yards passing. We weren't a running team with 2300 yards rushing. So lets say we get the same amount of rushing yards 2025 as 2024, does that make us a running team?

No it doesn't. Im not saying Fletcher or Lyle are going to run for 1200, 1300, 1500 yards. But they will get 90-95% of the carries unlike last year, when it was a 3 headed monster all year.

We will see!

If Fletcher and Lyle were gonna get 90-95% of the carries then we wouldn't have went and got CharMar Brown. No way they both get 1,000 yards.
