The bad:

There is not a single play in the game of football that ****es me off more than punting in the opponents territory and getting a touchback. Nothing. It does things to my brain that I can’t say out loud. We did it twice.

The good:

I truly hope Carter Davis had the post game “celebration” he deserves. Another clutch kick when we threatened to shoot ourselves in the foot. Touchbacks on kicks are a blessing. We had good coverage on the one that wasn’t

Malachi is just a matter of time before he houses one. He will probably have multiple punt return TDs this year before it’s over

All in all I’d say the group is doing pretty well. Had Day (I think it was Day) stopped that punt at the 1 you could probably give this group a really good grade last night

Dylan Day on both. They will coach him up. Inches don’t matter. Just down inside the 5 so our DL can get a safety

Yeah Day did well on coverage last year. I like that he was in position but he just needs to be better there. With the way our defense was playing it could have been huge swings on both.

Execution felt like it was about 9.9 until the very end and we flubbed both

Lagway running that offense inside the 5 would have been a thing of beauty :(

Can't stand in the endzone while trying to down the ball. Mental mistake that'll get fixed.
Agreed this is something that can and should be fixed. On one hand it’s good because in bad weather we had it set up perfectly twice. The bad is we just couldn’t seal it either time. Not an easy play for sure but at least one of them has to be finished

When was the last time we even came close to blocking a field goal or punt? Return game has been solid and Davis has been fantastic, but I’d love to see us be more aggressive in trying to make some game changing plays on specials.

I can’t say this for sure but last year, to me, it felt like we played incredibly conservative on punt teams because we didn’t want to risk taking the ball away from our offense with a dumb penalty and such a bad defense

But I’m not sure. Feels a little similar this year but I don’t know the exact strategy

When I was a student, my junior and senior year (00-01), the joke among my roommates was that the one thing the team could not do well was to down kicks inside the 5. The ball always found its way into the end zone.

Let’s not forget Dylan Day was a Guidry special. That drunk’s first offer he threw out when he got here.

Carter Davis has been the biggest surprise on the team. Dude went from making 36% of his kicks over 3 years, to being reliable.

It's such a drastic improvement that I'm still nervous every time he attempts a FG. It's like my brain can't accept that such a 180 for a K is even possible.

Incredibly conservative? This staff? You sir are lying to me.

I feel the exact same way. I just shake my head at this point I’m like where did this **** come from?

We signed Auburn to a pretty lucrative deal from what I heard. Lost the Borregales family. Turns out Auburn sucks.

That’s a recipe for disaster right? This friggin kid has ice water in his veins and some kind of power in his leg. He may or may not make an appearance on the bench press for FSU….

I don’t know if we have a Special Teams room

But if we do I’d bet one day Mario knocked on the door, poked his head inside, and said “hey guys what do you think about having the OL block on returns?”
