‘Don’t do anything stupid.’

when you see by the week Beck looks alot like a certain connecticut qb.....then you would have to think sometime the passing/route concepts and run game get a lil to basic....yall wonder why around october it crumbles...well the tape and tendencies are now fully out.
Was saying break some tendency’s with the O. But I will say I hate Thursday and Friday games in CFB always causes trouble for teams. Had a feeling this was coming once I saw it as a Friday at the beginning of the uear

This fanbase will rue the day it cursed Dawson's name.
I’ve responded directly, but still don’t get it. I’ve called him above average. You can’t see that what was out there tonight was a poor plan. We can’t say that and simultaneously appreciate whatever good? Again, I can be convinced some of the stuff he pushes out there is dictated to him. It’d make sense.

Look, I hope everyone is happy when Mike Norvell is calling plays next year. I want it to work out.

With our overall ‘don’t do anything stupid’ approach, I wonder if Bill Walsh could get a bunch of college kids to effectively blend passing concepts and rugby scrums while also eliminating negative plays or penalties that put the entire sequence at risk. Heck of a JENGA game we’ve put together. I sincerely hope it defies all odds and prior results.

We don’t have LBs who go side to side. We also don’t have LBs who cover well in space. We’re lucky teams try to get the ball out so quickly they don’t get the chance to isolate more, but it’s likely coming.
I'm worried about the SMU game. Rhett will spread us out and get try to get a LBer on CJjr or Maryland. If that LBer is Toure or Chase Smith, heaven help us. Pitt with Reid too

You got it. Louisville missed a wide open wheel tonight.

Anyway, as for the main point of the original post, I guess don’t take it from me. Take it from our starting Safety:

“Louisville schemed a nearly flawless game to torment the Hurricanes.

The Cardinals scored on each of their first two drives, showing Miami's defense looks it hadn't seen all season, safety Zechariah Poyser said.

"They had a great plan," Poyser said. "They came up with stuff we hadn't seen and we had to adjust to. We weren't prepared for it."

Hetherman wont get the heat because Mario, Dawson and especially Beck will but Im side eying him too.. Bell went for 20+ catches and 300+ yards last TWO GAMES and we didnt have a single bracket, double, trap coverage designed to take him away..

You got two weeks to design something and have guys prepared and make the OC play left handed so to say. NEVER did it seem like our defense dictated the terms.. Bell was allowed to waltz thru our defense almost untouched..

I’m with you on all of it. Going back and reading through the prediction threads, it’s fascinating to me how many people try to extrapolate things - we’ve rushed the passer well; Miller isn’t mobile, so we should crush - without considering ‘hey, they know that, too, so maybe they’ll try something different, like a ton of quick hitters.’

We were plainly underprepared.

That same article mentions that this was the 10th (!) time Mario loses as a favorite while at Miami. yikes.

I was in the Miami vs. UL thread ALLLLL week saying "be careful", trying to talk up the stats of their defense, sounding the alarm that they were talented and also had bye week.. Idk if it was the loss to uva or what but most everyone in that thread didnt want to hear it..

Cant believe we had 2 weeks and didnt take away their #1 target and make them play left handed at all..

Err on the side of taking it to your opponent via strategy and design. Beck’s panic mode has little to do with this. Like I’ve long said, he’s a QB for whom you have to design plays - not one who will break script and do well. He hasn’t shown that. Why should we expect that other than unmerited hype?

I was saying all off season beck will only be as good as his support system is. When he had bobo not too far removed from monken with bowers & ladd he was a top qb, when he lost that he was what we just saw

Dawson said it multiple times, his offense will only be as good as the QB. He runs a very basic like nfl offense, not basic as in bad but basic as in he puts alot of the responsibilities on the QB

As a double digit favorite, Mario has lost 5 times in Miami. With that tendency, I think we’re looking at deeper issues than any one thing. Why are underdogs consistently given a bit more than a puncher’s chance against us? How exactly does that happen across so many different opponent styles and even our own rosters? If he doesn’t spend 4 months trying to replace another coordinator this year, I’d recommend devoting all his problem solving to that mystery.

I have said it multiple times and will continue to say his style of play absolutely gets his teams ready to play against the BIG game or name brand primetime games BUTTT over course of season will get you clipped by other teams and games you should not lose. It happens every year, same year you can go INTO Ohio State as a road dog and beat them pulling away, couple weeks later lose to Stanford. Its basically built into the philosophy. That grind it out games and such, works wonders on tougher teams but not over course of season, will get clipped once or twice.

We got stanford next week lol.

I fear Beck is going to have a Brad Kaaya level drop in his draft status. Remember kaaya was being touted as a first rounder at one point. If Beck is getting this confused by a college defense he doesn’t much of nfl future. I can almost understand having a meltdown like this against a team like Ohio State. But Louisville? At home? Yikes.
