Exactly. Show me a program that constantly puts dudes in the league, and I’ll show you a program that constantly gets Top 10 recruiting classes.

Mario isn’t recruiting Ohio State’s leftovers. He’s trying to build a team that can actually compete with Ohio State, not Michigan State or Kentucky.

But if that’s true, it would be true regardless of whom we hired. So why not hire an elite recruiter? At least with an elite recruiter, it might not be a requirement. With Beard, it will be.

But that’s not an argument for Beard. That’s an argument that any WR coach here can only be so bad.

“Coaching” Everybody praises Gattis as a WR coach when he was at PSU, Bama, and Michigan. Then he gets here, where we have no talent, and he doesn’t even know how to coach anymore. It’s almost like your reputation as a “coach” is really determined on signing day.

It’s a horrible hire. Miami got its *** kicked at WR recruiting last year. And the solution to that is Kevin Beard? A recruiting nobody. Does anybody actually think Mario could have done worse at WR? Like, “yeah, it’s Kevin Beard, but at least it’s not X”? If so; who the **** do you have...

But so what? That would still be true if we hired an elite WR coach or if we hired me.

3 dudes that were so Miami they signed anyway?

    WR Coach Candidates

Yep. You out and land a bunch of .95+ WR recruits, and you’ll be regarded as one of the best developers and teachers in all of college football very quickly.

But it’s not like he had a bunch of studs lined up before the carpet got pulled out from under him. He’s also not somebody you have seen recruiting gurus write about as like the next stud recruiter that a P5 coach will come take. He’s not like Tee Martin was or Willie Taggart where everybody...

    WR Coach Candidates

There’s been a lot of high 3*, low 4* recruiting. In little over one recruiting cycle, Cristobal already has more than half the 247 Top 100 recruits that every coach we had before him signed, except for Shannon. Shannon signed a bunch in that 09 class, and then barely ever signed another. In...

    You can’t hire Kevin Beard.

Best way to do a 180 would be to sign studs at WR.

If you’re running an offense that requires an entire team to teach it, you shouldn’t be the OC. If Mario is bringing assistant coaches that can’t learn what their unit is suppose to be doing an 8 play offense, we have much bigger problems. The assistants should be recruiters, not TAs.

    WR Coach Candidates

Yeah. It’s weird in a league where Norv Turner and Brian Schottenheimer and Romeo Crennel keep getting hired, people think that league knows something that college football fans should care about.

Bringing in a TE Coach we can put on a bunch of recruitments, not just TE, would probably be the thinking. Coley would be at least the secondary, if not the primary, on non-TE recruits.

I’d take all of it. Hankerson I’m on the fence about because his recruiting chops aren’t established and I think Miami needs to add a Day 1 recruiting stud to the staff. But pair Hankerson with Coley and it’s easier to take a chance on Hankerson being a recruiting stud.
