7 to 3! Tuff fought game 💪
What was that final penalty called on mv? Looked like they signaled PI on 3rd and 10 but the result left it at 3rd and 1....wouldn't any defensive holding pi or illegal contact be a 1st?

Not an automatic first in California. They were on the 16 so half the distance and no first.

Jones is playing right now.

Also Jonesboro at 7:30 here:

Jonesboro looked pretty bad.

Wyman didn’t look great. He seemed to avoid contact as a DB and WR. He also fumbled a kick off return. I’ll need to see more of their games, and Douglas County is probably pretty good.
Redding plays really hard and was hitting people all over the field. He caused one forced fumble and was impactful on defense.

Jonesboro isn’t great, but Douglas County is loaded.

I flipped to a different game at halftime and didn’t go back to it, but I hadn’t caught that on Wyman, gonna toss the second half on this morning. He’s not the headhunter that Redding is by any stretch but he hadn’t seemed soft to me, but his athleticism has been apparent imo.

I wasn’t down on the Redding take but wasn’t over the moon or anything, but in 6 quarters of football he’s got me completely on board. It’s **** near every play he’s in the mix. Triggers fast, and hits the **** out of people.

Yeah, I thought so too.

It’s never good when the best player on the field is actively avoiding the smoke.

I’m a bit concerned.

I had not seen either of them play before last night, and liked that Jonesboro featured Wyman as much as they did, but Redding really jumps off the screen with how physical he plays. At first he was the single high safety. First play of the game he made a nice tackle to limit a run to 6-7 yards.
Then Jonesboro, which plays a 4-4, moved him up to some type of hybrid LB/Safety position and for a while it seemed like Redding was involved in every play.

Wyman was typically playing about 6-10 yards off the opposing WR. As a result he was beaten underneath a few times, but for short yardage. it was his tackling which left something to be desired.

Agreed. Redding is someone you notice almost every play.

Jonesboro had Wyman covering Aaron Gregory, the Texas A&M commit, pretty much all game and I thought he did a fine job, considering he’s also pretty much their entire offense

That last part is really good to know, and explains why they played Wyman as they did at CB. And you’re right that Wyman was never beaten over the top or really for any big gains
