No one realistically should think we steamroll everyone

1. NIL has leveled the playing field too much

2. Styles make fights

3. It’s just college football, man

Also preseason rankings and assumptions are always incorrect. Some teams will be better than everyone thinks and some will be worse. We don’t really know that stuff yet

we usually trash our schedule as a fanbase but by the end of the year it’s often a much better SOS than it seemed
We’re steamrolling plenty this year!

College football is moving closer and closer to minor league NFL, which means any given Saturday almost any team can win. The lack of consistency on these rosters makes it extremely challenging to build cohesive units. The constant shuffling of players and transfers makes for a wild season and upsets will become more common.

Just gotta sit back and enjoy because one or two losses no longer matter as much as they used to.

Figured this was the case

Bell and Francis to Samson and Mccoy is probably a huge drop off in pass pro. Going to be alot of max protection, teams will counter by dropping 8
We’re going to be in an unexpected dog fight or two in September. The fanbase swears we’re going to steamroll both Stanford and wake but the tone coming out of camp about our o line/offense says otherwise. It’s not surprising at all given the new pieces on the o line but it will be very disappointing if the passing O never comes together this year with the weapons.

Hopefully the RPO is back to being used heavily like 24 because that will help tremendously
The tone has been the offense should be explosive. And that the o-line will take a step back in pass pro but still should be solid

Amen. I mean I’ll talk **** because hey, we are fans and it has no bearing on the games

It’s more about “how” if we lose or a struggle. Is it a fluke or like last year SMU felt like the same stuff over and over. I think we’ve gotten past that but who knows

Wonder where specifically the issue is with the pass blocking. Hopefully we don’t regret not hitting OL harder in the portal.
I don’t know maybe going against the best DL they’ll see all year has something to do with it… or maybe Mario and Mirabal completely forgot how to develop and recruit OL. The overreaction to any little tidbit is exhausting.

I trust Mario but I’m pretty surprised SJ is on track to start and Cantwell is not. Def didn’t seem possible after spring but I guess he hasn’t progressed like they had expected.

Not worried about SJ vs most teams but worried about his ceiling in the playoffs. Guess if he’s holding up against our interior DL he’ll be fine.

Maybe the best outcome is when he is ready Cantwell takes over for McCoy if he struggles in pass pro. I’m not convinced about McCoys movement skills

This a million percent. I care more about looking the part and not having long lulls, blunders of the past during games that turn into dogfights.

We will have a top 10 offensive line by end of season. That’s being very conservative. He hasn’t been talked about, but Buchanan is a beast. Center is my only long term concern.

- CharMar Brown had a great day. People look at his yards-per-carry and think it's low, but part of that is his role being short yardage. Add back that long touchdown against Florida that got called back and his numbers look a lot cleaner.

He's not going down on one tackle. Never too high, never too low — you know exactly what you're getting.
Rewatching the ole Miss game made me circle back to this thread and this comment specifically.

He had 14 carries for 54 yards; matching his season average of 3.9 ypc.

Yeah we need him to covert third downs but no one is telling him to stop running when we get the first lol. Anyways, with some running backs it’s not a coincidence that there are always ‘what if,’ scenarios where their longest runs were called back.

When the score was 3-0 with the ball near midfield, Marty broke for a long run on a 1st and 10, for about 18-19 yards, which was erased by a Bauman holding call

Bauman is Newman

So sounding like Lt-Samson, Lg-Sj, C-Rodriguez, rg- congdon, RT-McCoy. Cantwell probably the swing tackle and will play some guard and Buchanan will get reps at guard
Yeah- they’re paying the giant Cantwell $2mm annually to ride the pine or get “spot” duty play time?
You can’t be serious… and what’s your source for this supposed starting online?

I’ll believe it when I see it
