Big , bad jiu-jitsu guy that’s a big chicken **** when things get too close for comfort. You can see the fear in his eyes when these games get to butt puckering time. He starts sweating like a ***** in church. Maybe he grows some balls after another choke job.
Heard a nasty rumor, Dawson and Cristobal was a blowup over th following:

Do you know what the fight between Dawson and Cristobal wws About gc told me that Cristobal overruled Dawson‘s call on the running play and called run up the middle Dawson called an end around

"We're not playing Miami Hurricane football. We have to work harder, players have to play better, coaches have to coach better."
Change that to "We are playing Miami Hurricane football", and he'd go a long way to actually staring the problem in the face.

Looked pretty clear to me Dawson was motioning and yelling about Brown doing exactly what Lance said in this thread, which was closing his eyes and stopping his feet. Obviously could be wrong, but I think people put a little too much stock into how playcalls work in real life. It's not like these guys stop time and have a conversation. This **** happens quick. If Dawson really called an end around, only he has the communication to Beck, so we think he called an end around, Mario heard it, said "No, run an A-gap dive", and Dawson changed the play, all before the communication cut off at the 15 second mark on the play clock? Anything's possible, but that seems a little far fetched.

Now if we had called a timeout, or if we actually ran a quick operation and you could see personnel changing, then changing again, I could buy something like that.

I will say this though....we have run the ball on 23 of the last 23 3rd and 4th and 1 or 2 over the last 4 weeks. And none of them were as creative as an end around. I find it really hard to believe that's totally Dawson's direction. That has to be some group collaboration. This dude didn't get the job he has by being that ridiculously deliberate. 23 in a row of anything is almost statistically impossible if you've got half a creative brain cell in your head.

Agreed, but the person who told me this has 0 to gain and zero agenda. They are basically a saint.

All in all I get most annoyed that Beck who not only makes a ton of money but is also a super senior can’t check out of some of these plays. He said, “I execute what’s called”

Can't or won't? Either way, it's unacceptable, I agree. But I'd love to know what he's given the autonomy to do. From his quote, I'm with you, it sounds like "absolutely nothing". Go be a robot and run this play, even if the entire world knows it's not going to work.

Exactly how I felt, by far the most frustrating game so far this season. At least Louisville put up a fight and came ready to play. This game should have been a blow-out that somehow turned into a loss.
This style of play opens to that and the penalties which are a feature to Mario led teams were doing work.. almost every drive in first half and nothing happens because mario is cool with it especially since its the oline.

I think the Trader drop was the biggest play of the game not only because it completely swung momentum when we were about to go up 14-0, but it seemed to scare the coaches (and Beck?) away from the deeper throws that were working.
Then you're not cut out to be a college coach, which we know because cafecito doesn't know how to not coach scared.

Here’s what I thought about it. Not the same exact situation, because Wake was down, so they had no choice, but literally LAST WEEK, Wake got the ball against SMU, down by 2, with 12 seconds, on their own 42, needing a FG to win. With NO timeouts.

They completed a 25 yard pass, spiked the ball, and kicked a game winning FG.

This wasn't 6 years ago. It was last ******* week. And our staff, with 1 timeout, 25 seconds, needing, what? 35 yards to give our kicker a reasonable shot? And we take a knee.

Absurd ***** ****. You literally just watched a team ONE WEEK AGO, that's not nearly as talented as you are, get 25 yards on one play. You probably have 4 plays? And you can run anything, since you have a TO. There's zero chance you're going to ever get to a situation where you have to punt. So the literal only thing you're scared about is throwing a pick. Nobody gets near your QB in terms of a pass rush. You're not going to give up a sack/fumble. But you're so scared of letting your QB cook with 25 seconds and timeout, that you just turtle up and play for OT. Embarrassing.

I was in favor of it two years ago against Clemson when we had Emory making his first start. But now you're paying your QB millions, plural. Go try to win the ******* game. Absolute ***** ****.
Mind you all last week this was what SMU was saying of their prevent defense

dawson calls the plays but hes also the one that says being conservative loses games during his first year here. hes not the best OC, but hes absolutely being neutered by the HC's philosophy.
I fully believe Dawson has bought into this play style. How many posts from his time in Houston have to be copied here? He was the same guy.

I just rewatched yesterday's press conferences. Mario was asked directly about reviewing the game film for tendencies. He says they do it every week (!) and try to add a wrinkle or a slight change to formation, etc to change it up..... IDK. Whatever they are doing isn't fooling anyone

I just find it ironic that during training camp and at the beginning of the season, both Dawson and Beck said he has the freedom to change plays. In his presser yesterday, Dawson said he couldn’t take credit for a successful play (can’t remember which one) because Beck changed the original call.

I don’t think the statement “I execute what’s called” can be taken literally. I think Beck was making a general statement after a tough loss. I’m certainly not making excuses just trying to add some context.

Dawson claims Beck checked the TD throw to JoJo. It was supposed to go to Marion (i think) on the other side of the endzone..

Man all these BS (TRUE) comments from y'all...

You're all a part of the FACTION and not real Canes fans...

Did I do it right...

Listening to Dawson’s conference yesterday… it’s clear that he is a very rational coach with a clear understanding of football. The problem is that when all your plays are based on rational decisions, the defense will always know your response to their coverage. This allows the defense to dictate your play. He needs to be just slightly more irrational at times.

It’s funny how different this team feels now than just 3 weeks earlier. We looked good, looked like a legit contender. Talent still resides, but coaching has been terrible these last few weeks. Bad game plan, you can’t expect to beat every team the same way. We have enough talent to win many different ways, but seems like we can’t scheme our way out of a paper bag. Defense has been fine, they don’t feel as solid these last couple of week. But have definitely done their part to keep us in games. I don’t see how any smart coach can keep doing the same thing and almost expect the opposing to team to play to our strengths. Very strange season

I was told by another person I trust that cam could basically do whatever he wanted. At times that hurt us ie vs cuse. Even though the plays were there and it was kind of a freak loss (fumble for td, phantom holding on Rivers). He should have been been reigns in a bit that game. (I know th defense sucked a kicking the fg was wrong). I just don’t get how the **** Beck sits there and thinks it’s ok or he just has 0 autonomy. His body language makes me feel like it’s the latter but maybe I’m giving the benefit of the doubt.

@Lance Roffers There was one play early that kind of broke my heart. We lined up with wide splits which actually gave us a light box to run into and fletcher in the backfield. I thought we were finally going to use space to run.

But we passed, checked down to Fletcher, and he dropped it…

hes lying to you just like his injury reports.

they haven't changed a single thing which is why were the most predictable offense

the person who told u this also believes int he tooth fairy.

we literally watched it happen and can read lips...and if u beliee buddy called a reverse your saint is worse than i though

Opponents have figured out what we do on defense - which, similar to the offense, doesn't change much and is pretty simple. Like it's pretty obvious when Scott and Thomas are going to blitz, and also how we will line up on 3rd and passing.

Most evident by the opening drives (od) from FSU on. We went from giving up 0 p/od first 3 FBS games to 4.25 p/od last 4 (and SMU drove the length of the field before fumbling too). Teams know what to expect out of our defense and are killing us on the script.

Hetherman has done a great job of plugging the leaks as the game goes on, but we should be ready for the possibility of game where that doesn't happen this year. Wouldn't be great with where our offense is at.
