Update on RB recruiting

Back in 2016 Wright had recorded an official 100m in 11.22. It looked like he was on his way of eclipsing 11.0 for sure. Then the injury.

He came back running 11.8s but this past season in two track meets reduced his time to 11.49 and that into a -2.3 mps head wind.

Using the USTAFT calculator for head wind compensation this equates to an 11.28-100m so speed is coming back.

Ok this *****ing is going too far. Yes, Wright should've been contacted more but lets not act like we're starving for rbs or these coaches don't know what they're doing at this position. Brown like McIntosh and Richt has a preference get the **** over it and if we just end up with Crowley then oh my god we're so unlucky that we got maybe the most underrated stud rb in this whole class! Homerun, DJ, Cam and oh this mini monster named Lingard thinks we're fine already

C. Davis, Wilder, Brownlee and Anaele here is a chance to help out.

Seriously never saw mc as a top quality back but I can tell you Wright's feelings are more than hurt and it'll take more than a sorry card to change that situation. Lol at all the people who thought tosh>Wright seriously not even a close competition.

I do completely agree that if we just get Crowley in this class, we are totally fine with that.

On the other hand, this just isn't the way to recruit. We can't get left ****ing off local talent and not getting good backup options just because we don't have the time to make the phone calls and send the texts. This is part of the facilities race that we need to catch up on. It's all about that back of house staffing that ESPN never talks about.

That while true is not the point you can't move like that in South Florida if your miami we have to have the open door policy and keep contact with the recruits. Now I personally think the staff's intentions are to not strong kids along but I doubt the kids are it that way judging but the amount of hurt feelings we routinely hear about.

Early this year: Sanders, Cain, Mellusi all still on the board while Crowley is committed, and Mac and MAR want the illusion of being able to play the position. Nayquan is coming off an injury, so comms are light.

Now: Board is empty, Crowley still committed, and Mac and MAR looking around (esp. Mac). Nayquan proving health and UM says they want to open up communication.

Is it Nayquan's right to tell us ***** you? Sure. We didn't put the priority on him. But let's not act like the board has not changed in past six months, or the fact that we don't have six months to signing day.

Still don't understand why some people treat recruiting as a black and white, right and wrong practice.

Here we go with the “not worries about 2 backs” crowd.

Let’s think through this VERY plausible scenario:

-Homer bounces early
-Burns washes out
- Davis is a scat back

Now we have Dallas, Lingard, a scat back and Crowley as a freshman, and we go from a position of strength to fairly lean real quick.

Could go to OU and most likely play right away. If he comes here, he will have to compete with Homer (If he returns), Deejay, Lingard, Cam, and Crowley. That's a lot of comp. I'm also not saying that he's afraid of competition but it could be a factor with the stable of backs that we have. I think Nayquan and Mac are studs. Injuries with Nayquan scare me though and that might be reason why the staff cooled on him.
Yes. Look at Lingrad one of the top HS backs in the country and C. Davis inside the top 10 as a RB ad they are not starting.

If we get only 1 back this year OK. It opens up the 2020 class recruiting for more offers and other top back will see an opportunity to play early. Saw where someone called C. Davis a "scat-back"-- hardly he is 5-9.5 and 200 pounds and will get even bigger muscle wise in our S&C. Kid also ran a 10.9 100 meters in track.

Let’s take it further. Let’s say everyone in the RB room is Christian and the Rapture happens. Now there are zero people to run the ball next year.

***king Mark Richt recruiting

I get that and I've said the communication should've been better but looking at what Stefan is saying Wright never seemed like anything but the backup plan based om preference so between that and the injury they just let it go which should've been done better but compared to some of the diva **** some local kids do this isn't even close. Yes Wright has a right (no pun intended) to be mad but many schools have held back on him

You're giving us a worse case scenario of Dallas, Lingard, Cam Davis and Crowley, and calling that lean? Agree to disagree, fam.

We'll be fine at RB. I'd rather take one back in '19 and take 2-3 top level ones in 2020, than take a guy this year just to take a guy. Having a four deep of 4-5 stars at the position is not lean.

That said, we have to learn our lesson and stop this madness of only recruiting the top of our board.

Yeah, my comment has nothing to do with Wright specifically. I have no idea if he's Miami caliber or not. I'm just saying, if the staff wanted him as a backup plan, they have to recruit him all along as though he's important. ****, even if they didn't want him as a backup plan, we have to have the people and resources to at least polite recruit the local kids so that kids, parents, coaches don't feel like we are "dissing" them.

Some of it is prima donna stuff, and yeah, we get held to a different standard, but it is what it is. You don't get ****ed at the rain for getting you wet, do you? That would be pointless. You accept that is how the world works and you plan accordingly.

And let me break it to y'all talking about IF Homer leaves...

Travis Homer is playing his last season in a Canes uniform, starting this Sunday. Next season, he'll be playing every Sunday for an NFL team. Just accept that fact now and enjoy watching the man work.

Did these “2-3 top level backs” sign already for 2020? We are ok with not taking a kid THIS YEAR because some kids MAY sign with us in 2 years? That usually works out.

You stack chips whenever you can. We aren’t in any position to say, “Ah, I’m good on him we will just get an extra back next year”. Nah, **** that.
