UF commit Shawn Davis reaches out to Miami

CanesInSight has learned that Miami safeties coach Ephraim Banda met with Shawn Davis all of Friday afternoon at Southridge.

Davis is a UF commit who was supposed to enroll last week, but was not able to qualify early. He reached out to Banda this week. Sources tell CanesInSight that Davis' family and DB coach believes that UF has handled the situation poorly, opening the door for the Canes. Davis is likely to take an official to Miami with his family over the next two weeks.

One more important note -- I'm told that Banda has met with administrators at Southridge about Davis' situation, as well as his aunt, who is a UM grad.

Right, it's just like with Brandon Powell...things were slightly inconvenient so he went to uf. In both cases it's the university's fault. If you can't get a kid in on the exact day he wants, what do you expect?

Yeah. I don't doubt Pete's right. I know he's right, dude has connections everywhere and obviously some at the school. But there's a piece missing here somewhere.

i thought Powell was always waiting on the UF offer and got one days before enrolling...

That's my point. These dudes don't bolt at the last second because you messed up, they bolt because they want to be somewhere else. Sounds like Davis if having second thoughts about uf, let's hope he follows through.

It's not about "convincing" him. He might not have a choice.

Sounds like Miami is working to make him an EE, and if []_[] can do that there's some confidence he will sign; is that about right?

At this point if this kid does sign with us, it's almost guaranteed he's gonna go the route of: "after talking it over with my family...". He will play the angle that his family really wants him here and as much as he likes UF he didn't want to let them down.

He wants to enroll early. He is 1 credit short or his GPA won't go through clearinghouse (depends who you listen to), UF won't budge, he's not happy about it. Miami saw the door was open and slid right in. He did for sure get a visit from Banda recently. Also the kid just said HE didn't reach out to UM. Didn't say anything about HIS CAMP not reaching out...

The latest I got.

The school can do whatever they want. They can easily allow him to enroll while work on finishing whatever he needs to finish to get that credit through the semester.

doesnt sound like he's having any second thoughts about UF, sounds like he wants the immediate gratification of being an EE and will consider doing it at UM if he can't there... He was probably telling all his classmates before the christmas break "Peace out, i'm off to college to do big things", and now he doesnt wanna look like a ****
